Goethe University Frankfurt expanding to New Horizons
Following the example of US American universities, Goethe University Frankfurt has become one of the first endowed German universities on January 1, 2008. The status of an endowed institute of higher education gives Goethe university a high degree of autonomy, which goes far beyond what a public university can do. The university is now able to appoint professors and select students according to its own standards, fundraise private capital and manage its real estate independently from the state of Hesse.
The state of Hesse is funding and supporting the construction of the facilities that will eventually house Goethe UniversityinFrankfurt's Westenddistrict. The new campus will also host the House of Finance. The House of Finance will serve as a centre for the mutual exchange of ideas and insights to all members of the financial community in Germany, Europe and the world. Goethe Business School and the next generationof MBA students will move into the House of FinanceinSpring 2008.
