Fuqua Ranked No. 7 by BusinessWeek, The Fuqua School of Business was ranked No. 7 in BusinessWeek's  1998 ranking of the best business schools, its highest ranking ever.

Campbell R. Harvey
, the J. Paul Sticht Professor of International Business, received the 1998 Graham and Dodd Scroll for excellence in financial writing. It was the second consecutive year - and fourth time overall - in which he has won this prestigious award granted by the Association of Investment Management and Research.

Through the Fuqua Small Business Consulting Program, Fuqua School of Business students will provide consulting services for RTP-area small businesses. The students have volunteered their time to help small businesses that have been in operation for more than one year, have past year revenues of at least $100,000, and cannot afford to pay professional consulting fees. In the past, the program has allowed student to gain experience in computerizing accounting systems, analyzing cash flow, studying management problems, controlling inventory, performing market surveys, developing marketing strategies and analyzing human resource issues (Aug. 4, 1998)

Fuqua's marketing group pulled off an unprecedented sweep of their field's most prestigious research paper awards in 1998:

    • Hanes Corporation Foundation Professor John G. Lynch Jr. won the Marketing Science Institute/Paul Root Award as the co-author of a paper published in the Journal of Marketing that made the greatest contribution to the practice of marketing.
    • Richard Staelin, the Edward S. and Rose Donnell Professor, and associate professor William F. Boulding shared the 1998 William O'Dell Award for the article in Journal of Marketing Research that "made the most significant long-run contribution to the marketing discipline."
    • Associate professor Devavrat Purohit won the best paper award for a marketing paper published in Marketing Science or Management Science, and Ph.D. graduate Dan Ariely won the best dissertation award given by the American Marketing Association.
