The Duke MBA - Global Executive program is
a challenging and rigorous academic program, and admission is selective. Applicants to the Global Executive program
typically are high-performing managers and executives in companies
involved in global commerce. They have progressed steadily and rapidly
in their careers, regularly taking on increased levels of responsibility.
Participants are drawn from a rich diversity of industries, job responsibilities,
professional backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. Global Executive applicants should have a minimum
of 10 years professional experience and currently should have (or expect
to assume shortly) international managerial responsibilities within
their companies. Ideally, these responsibilities include managing people
as well as projects, products, data and budgets. An undergraduate degree
from an accredited four-year college or university is expected. Achievement
in quantitative areas, as well as a working familiarity with current
information technologies, are desirable qualities for an applicant. Students must be proficient in both written and
spoken English. Applicants whose native language is other than English
must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Students must secure company sponsorship prior to
applying to the program. At a minimum, the sponsoring company must
provide the required time off to attend the mandatory residential sessions.
In addition, most students receive full or partial financial sponsorship
from their employers.
