HLTHMGMT 716 is a Fall Term 2 class that meets once per week throughout the term and concludes with travel to Washington, D.C. for a week in January. While in Washington, D.C. students will visit institutions critical to the development of health policy, the development of health technology, and the delivery of health care services. Candidate groups for visitation in Washington include Congress, the Executive Branch, Advocacy groups and Non-Governmental Organizations. Discussions in Washington will require extensive background reading on speakers, speaker organizations, and current health policy news and events. Students will return to Durham for a post-trip meeting and student presentations.
TO RECEIVE FULL CREDIT STUDENTS MUST ATTEND BOTH THE CLASS MEETINGS AND THE D.C. TRIP. YOU CANNOT DROP THE COURSE BEYOND THE STANDARD FUQUA DROP/ADD PERIOD.
