MANAGEMT 748 - Human Assets and Organizational Change

Course Overview

This course is intended to help you understand and improve human capital through an understanding of motivation, performance and satisfaction at work. The perspective is both 1st-person and 3rd-person, i.e., it is about your own work experience, an important resource for classroom conversation, as well as the experience of those you will be leading and managing in transition from this program. Importantly, the course is not aimed at creating future HR managers, but simply at enhancing your understanding of human beings at work, contributing to your capacity to be an effective leader and manager of those human beings. We will work at multiple levels of analysis to include: theory, evidence and prescription. We will draw heavily on the behavioral science aspects of human capital, psychology, sociology and "behavioral" research, with attention to the economic and financial dimensions that are most relevant.
