General Search Tips

To find an alumnus/alumna of the Fuqua School of Business, enter one or more search parameters. Multiple search parameters are additive and will narrow your search; fewer parameters will widen your search.

If you are unsure of the spelling of a name or company, you may enter % as a wild card character anywhere in your search term (e.g., "Anders%n"). You may also type the first few characters of a name to see results for all names starting with those characters.

You may make multiple selections in a list by holding down the Control (Windows) or Apple (Mac) key when making your selection (e.g., to find alumni living or working in either Rhode Island or Vermont, select both entries from the state field).

Name Searches

If you're not sure how to spell a classmate's name, try a wild card search. Simply type in the first few letters of your classmate's last name to get results for all alumni with last names starting with those letters.

The directory also allows searches by first name only. Using other filters like class year and program, you can easily narrow your search for a classmate.

For those who may use a name different than their given name, the directory is searchable by either name. Search results will show in list format with the person's given name. When their record is opened, the common name will appear in parentheses after the given name.

Geographic Searches

Fuqua's alumni directory allows you to search for alumni in a particular geographic area. You may search by city, state, zip code, region or country. The results generated will include those with either a home or work address in the indicated geographic area.

At the present time, the alumni directory does not have the capability to search within a certain number of miles of a particular address. However, there are several ways to obtain a list of alumni proximate to a given area:

• A search by U.S. region will give you results for all alumni in or near a particular city. For example, a search of the Washington, D.C. region gives results for those living or working in suburban Maryland and Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C. proper.
• A wild card search of zip code is also an effective way to search for alumni proximate to a particular address. For example, a search of the U.S. region Baltimore yields results for more than 160 individuals. However, three-digit zip code search for "212" garners results for 80 individuals living or working near downtown Baltimore.

The alumni directory search page only displays the countries in which at least one alumnus/alumna lives or works. If you do not see a country listed, it means that we do not have record of any alumni living or working in that country.

Company Searches

Because company names are self-reported by alumni, they are listed in different formats in our alumni database. Thus, it is advisable to search using several different iterations of a particular company name (e.g., "General Electric" and "GE"). It is also advisable to use the least restrictive term when searching (e.g., "Ford" rather than "Ford Motor Company") to achieve the greatest number of results.

The job industry and function search terms are also self-reported by alumni; therefore, they may vary greatly given the perspective of the individual entering the information. For best results, make multiple selections within the category. The industries and functions that appear as search options in the alumni directory are those that at least one alumnus/alumna has selected to describe his or her work.

Search Results

You can either view your results in a list with links to each individual's profile or as a printable roster. Simply toggle the radio button at the bottom of the search form to adjust the results format.

The alumni directory is meant to enable one-to-one contact among alumni or between alumni and students. Thus, the directory does not allow users to download results in spreadsheet format. Updating Your Profile

Changes made to your information in My Profile will be entered within seven days. Changes will be reflected in the alumni directory, Fuqua's alumni contact database and the university's contact alumni database. To change or add information not included in the forms, contact alumni-info@fuqua.duke.edu or +1.919.660.7715.

To control the display of your information to other alumni in the directory, choose the appropriate setting in the Other Information section of My Profile. These settings apply only to the Fuqua alumni directory.
