The Duke MBA Gateway Initiative

Today's job market is more challenging and competitive than ever before, and the current student body has not been immune to its effects.  Daytime and Executive MBA students alike have had offers rescinded, start dates pushed back, and been faced with a rapidly diminishing opportunity pool due to the overwhelming number of employers cutting back their hiring efforts or eliminating them altogether. 

To help our students conquer these challenges, The Duke MBA Career Management Center (CMC) has launched The Duke MBA Gateway Initiative (The Duke MGI).  The Duke MGI is a new CMC program in which we are aggressively reaching out to companies in the Triangle and Triad and asking them to consider offering MBA-relevant project work for our Daytime MBA students, Executive MBA students, and 2009 graduates this summer.

For this initiative to be successful, we are going to need the support of our alumni community.  You understand the impact that our students and graduates make on organizations better than anyone in the marketplace.  Would you be willing to help us pitch this initiative to your employer and potentially create a meaningful opportunity for one of our students?  There are two ways that you can help us share this initiative:

  1. Connect our team to your organization.   Identify the person(s) in your company that would most likely evaluate this type of opportunity, share our marketing materials with them, and facilitate an e-mail introduction between us. 
  2. Make a referral.   Suggest other organizations that you think would be interested in participating, share your contact's information with us, and we will conduct the follow-up.
