Happy Birthday!

March 16, 2011

Each month, FuquaNet recognizes the alumni whose birthdays fall on the issue's publication date. We asked the alumni celebrating a birthday today (March 17), "Where are you now?" Here's what they said:

Eduardo Brito Soares Filho, Daytime MBA 2010
I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with my wife, Luisa Pereira '10. After graduating from Fuqua, I joined GE Energy - Renewables, where I am in a rotational program called RELP.

Beth Landy Horak, Daytime MBA 2002
I'm living in Alexandria, VA, with my husband, Joe Horak '03; daughter, Natalie (3); and son, Andrew (7 months).  Up until Natalie's birth, I was working for Newton Development Company, Joe's commercial real estate development company.  Natalie's birth coincided perfectly with the cessation of all real estate activity (besides foreclosures), so I've been working a few hours a week with Joe and many, many hours a week on trying to civilize a 3-year-old and keep a baby from eating dirt and Playskool pirate characters.  Hopefully the market will cooperate and recover fully by the time the kids are in school and I'm ready for full-time work.

VĂctor Abad Fau de Casa Juana, Daytime MBA 2004
After graduation in 2004, I returned to my home country, Spain, where I lived for the last seven years with my wife, Karin, and my children, Jorge and Mila. I am currently responsible for the energy team at ING Bank, working on the advisory and financing of top electricity, oil and gas projects in Spain. Soon I will start a new project as I have been asked to teach at the university where I graduated in Spain (already too long ago...).

Michal L. Locker, Daytime MBA 1999
I currently live in NY and am a Director in Deloitte Consulting's Telecom Media & Technology practice where I advise communications companies on corporate, business unit and operational strategy. I serve clients across the U.S., including companies in Seattle, WA; Reston, VA; and Dallas, TX, as well as clients in South America and Canada.

Kristin Najarian, Daytime MBA 1998
After moving a number of times for marketing-related jobs, I've settled down with my husband and two children in Palo Alto, CA.  I am currently a very busy and happy mother of a 4-year-old girl, Noelle, and a 2-year-old boy, Tate. I am working part-time as an admissions officer with the Stanford Graduate School of Business as well as running my own small marketing consulting company, Brand Principals, Inc.

Kristin Newman, Daytime MBA 1997
After several years of strategic consulting based out of Atlanta, I explored the start-up world before settling down with the very stable International Paper in marketing and strategy.  When I'm not working with some pretty cool customers (Starbucks, McDonald's, Wendy's), I'm enjoying living in Oxford, MS, with my husband, our 6-year-old son, and our energetic lab mix.

Ty Webb, Daytime MBA 2008
I am currently living in Nashville, TN, with my wife, Amy, and two young sons, Asher and Lincoln.  I have been working for Nissan since graduating from Fuqua, currently as Model Line Marketing Manager for the Nissan Juke, Quest, and cube.
