Center for Financial Excellence Hosts Spring Advisory Board Meeting

July 18, 2011

On June 22, 2011, the Center for Financial Excellence held its spring Advisory Board meeting in New York at the midtown offices of Capstone Advisory Group. Twelve board members attended the meeting, including three new additions: Caroline Brecker '89 from J.P. Morgan, Dan Allen '97 from Anchorage Capital, and Graham Goldsmith '94 from Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Seth Gardner, the center's Executive Director, led the board through an engaging discussion about the center's growth and progress during the 2010-2011 school year as well as the center's plans for the upcoming 2011-2012 academic year. Board members reviewed detailed materials, including the numerous finance boot camps and other educational events and programs that the center has administered and organized, full-time and internship employment data for students entering the finance industry, the center's two-year boot camp strategy and implementation plan, and critical fundraising efforts. Board members provided invaluable advice and guidance throughout the five-hour meeting.

The center's Advisory Board is comprised of fifteen senior finance practitioners from a broad cross-section of industry specializations, including investment banking, corporate finance, asset management, and private equity. The center's ongoing outreach and engagement with finance practitioners, including its board members, has been instrumental in the center's success and development.
