Executive Education Hosts First International Course
January 11, 2012
In December, Fuqua's Executive Education team ran the first open enrollment program based entirely outside of the United States: The Dubai Duke Leadership Workshop, designed to help participants enhance their leadership skills and develop a diverse network of senior peers. As a result of business development efforts of Fuqua's Middle East regional staff and our Durham-based Marketing team, 21 managers came together for a three-day leadership workshop in Dubai, UAE. Led by Management professor Sim Sitkin, the program was modeled after the U.S.-based Duke Leadership Program but tailored to address needs and issues specific to leaders in the Middle East.
The participants traveled to Dubai from all around the region including Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait and came from both the public and private sectors. This geographic diversity coupled with the seniority of the participants allowed for stimulating discussion and a dynamic learning environment. Through video cases, group discussion, and a 360 assessment, participants left with actionable plans against current leadership challenges. Fuqua is currently evaluating the viability of future open enrollment programs in the UAE.
