Happy Birthday!
February 15, 2012
Each month, FuquaNet recognizes the alumni whose birthdays fall on the issue's publication date. We asked the alumni celebrating a birthday today (February 16), "Where are you now?" Here's what they said:
Mike Atkinson, Global Executive MBA 2008
I'm still living in Colorado, raising four boys with my most awesome wife. Two and a half years ago, I took on responsibility for heading up the U.S. expansion for a German-based management consultancy. We are excited about the growth we have experienced and that which is to come!
Stacie Spychalski Buckley, Daytime MBA 1998
I am just wrapping up 10 1/2 years with Turner Broadcasting, most recently in Turner Sports as Director of Operations for NBA.com. Next month, I will transition back to The Coca-Cola Company (where I began my post-Fuqua career!) as a Global Initiative Leader (essentially a client relationship manager within IT) for Global Marketing. I am still living in Atlanta, with my husband George, my son Grant (4) and daughter Charlotte (18 months).
Tim Gehlmann, Global Executive MBA 2006
I am the President & CEO of Hoya Photonics, Inc., a medical device laser developer.
Terry Hagerty, Global Executive MBA 2000
I am General Manager responsible for Microsoft's Worldwide OEM Distribution Channel.
Chris LaSala, Daytime MBA 1998
Fellow class of '98 grad Leslie (Bernstein) and I are in Fairfield, CT, raising (brainwashing?) two new Duke fans, Jake (7) and Avery (4). I am on year nine at Google, leading mobile partnerships for the Americas. It was great to get back to Fuqua a few times over the last few years to help launch the Center for Media, Entertainment & Technology (check it out!). The biggest take away from my visits: I wish we had the student center—it's great!
Tim Lessek, Daytime MBA 2005
I'm still living in the Cincinnati, OH, area with my beautiful wife, Jen. I remain with Ethicon Endo-Surgery and am currently in the Global Marketing organization. Our two boys, Jacob (almost 4) and Cameron (18 months), continue to bring never-ending joy and chaos to our lives!
Ed Pederson, Cross Continent MBA December 2010
Professionally, I recently accepted a new job within John Deere as a Supply Council Manager where I work with a high-powered multi-national team to set sourcing strategies across our Ag & Turf division. Personally, my wife, Heather, and I recently did a mission trip to Guatemala over the Christmas break. The experience forever changed us and convinced us to start pursuing the adoption of a little girl and expand our family.
Minna Greenspun Pomeroy, Daytime MBA 1994
After working at Citigroup in New York City for more than 15 years, I left my last role as Chief of Staff for the Head of Human Resources and moved with my husband, Rob, and our children, Lyla (4) and Aidan (6), to the windy city of Chicago, IL. I was promoted to the position of "Chief of the Pomeroy household" for the past 2 1/2 years! I plan to keep this job and go back to the corporate world in a little while!
Tim Schock, Cross Continent MBA 2002
I reside in Tampa, Florida with my wife, Heather, and children, Bailie and Jeb. I serve as Vice President and Southeast Regional Manager for TransCore. I was recently appointed by Governor Rick Scott to a board seat on the Tampa Bay Area Regional Planning Council.
Maria Sebastian, Daytime MBA 1996
I have been living in London with my husband, and my two girls (ages 6 and 1) for the last six years, where I have been running Sales and Marketing for American Airlines for EMEA/India (Europe/Middle East/Africa/India).
Megan Steele, Daytime MBA 2004
I am home on maternity leave with our new beautiful daughter, Kate. She was born on December 6, 2011, and the holiday season this year was so special! She is starting to smile and talk and just melts my heart. My husband, Terry, and I both continue to work at Bank of America in Charlotte, NC.
