Happy Birthday

September 13, 2012

Each month, FuquaNet recognizes the alumni whose birthdays fall on the issue's publication date. We asked the alumni celebrating a birthday today (September 20), "Where are you now?" Here's what they said:

William R. "Bob" Bishop, Daytime MBA 1989
I live in Winchester, VA, and am Chief of Staff for Deloitte Consulting's Homeland Security segment. As CoS my job is to coordinate all staff actions to most effectively support our client-facing consultants who number in the many hundreds. I recently retired from the Army Reserve after 30 years of service and served in both Bosnia and the Iraq invasion. I continue to be very happily married to Linda after 28 years, and sons Bobby (22) and Chris (20) are all doing great!

Judy (Freed) Carter, Daytime MBA 1986
I have retired to the world of volunteering after working almost 20 years in direct mail marketing and advertising. I live in Cincinnati, OH, along with my husband, Robert Carter (Daytime MBA 1986), son William and daughter Rachel.

Meghan (Gallagher) Drake, Daytime MBA 2011
I am now in New York working at Credit Suisse in Technology & Media banking. I stay in touch with my Fuqua roots through lots of dinners and brunches with my fellow 2011 classmates and through DukeGEN NYC, but I really miss our two years in Durham! My husband and I are expecting our first child in December, and we couldn't be more excited! Wish us luck!

Russ Elmayan, Daytime MBA 1979
I serve as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, which is the headquarters office for all of the Catholic churches, Catholic schools, and Catholic Charities operations in the eastern half of North Carolina. I currently serve on the board of the Duke Catholic Center and of Catholic Charities. I recently married Diane Sharkey, and we are living in Raleigh.

Rich Fortescue, MHA 1988

I have worked in health care, electric utilities and aircraft manufacturing since graduating from Duke, and I am currently Director of Financial Planning for the University of New Mexico Medical Group. I spend a good deal of my free time coaching youth soccer and playing golf. Hello to my fellow MHA 1988 Classmates; remember the "Sminx," and Jim-A-Rama I and II.

Pam Goldberg, Daytime MBA 2009
I've been with Kraft Foods since graduation and just took on a new role as Global Brand Manager of the belVita Breakfast platform.  I am very excited about traveling the world!  I am living in NYC in Tribeca and loving it, especially being so close to some of my fellow Fuquans (in the same building!)  After a great summer of traveling out to the Hamptons, I am looking forward to a beautiful NYC fall. Keep in touch everyone!
