Happy Birthday!

October 18, 2012

Each month, FuquaNet recognizes the alumni whose birthdays fall on the issue's publication date. We asked the alumni celebrating a birthday today (October 18), "Where are you now?" Here's what they said:

John Dolphin, Daytime MBA 1989
John is CEO and Co-Founder of Heatwave Solar LLC in Minneapolis, MN.  Heatwave's solar air heaters provide building owners with an innovative new source for space heating that reduces utility bills while improving energy sustainability.  John and his wife, Marcia, live in Edina, MN, with their two children.

Juergen Goldstein, Duke Goethe MBA 2010
Having graduated in 2010 from the EMBA program, my wonderful Canadian wife, Beatrix, and I were lucky enough in September 2011 to complete our family of Nicolas (5) and Sebastian (3) with our twin girls, Julia and Clara (1); see picture for proof. This seemed-maybe not quite what you expect after just having finalized the EMBA-like the perfect opportunity for a seven-month sabbatical as a family with a lot of traveling primarily in Asia and Europe. Having gone back to work in April with challenges, not only in the financial industry lasting, it's about time to shift focus back onto work and leverage the "Duke toolkit," be it in the financial industry (currently I am in Deutsche's Credit Portfolio Strategies Group) or in other industries, be it in Germany (currently I am Germany/Frankfurt based) or abroad. The weekend of October 13-14 will be an excellent opportunity to exchange thoughts on aspects of work-life as well as on others when I will be joining other Dukies having graduated in 2010 as well on a hike in the German mountains.  Thanks to Marc Ruhnow for having organized such a wonderful outing once more!  Forever Duke!
