The Duke Career Center, the Fuqua School of Business, The Duke Law School, and the Duke Alumni Association invite you to join us for a program and cocktail reception on The Art of Effective Self-Promotion: You need to tell your story. (Staff from each will be on hand.)

Executive Coach and Duke Graduate, Debby Stone '84, JD'89, will present a highly interactive session on how to tell your unique story and promote your value in an authentic way to anyone, anytime. Session objectives are to:
1. Dispel myths and create comfort with self-promotion.
2. Learn tools for developing messaging content and effectively delivering your story and value proposition.
Participants will have the opportunity to consider how well and how comfortably they currently promote themselves, interact with fellow alumni, and learn the building blocks for improving and enhancing their self promotion skills.

Duke Charlotte and the Duke Law Club of Charlotte present March Madness and Big-Time College Sports: What Is the Way Forward for Players, Schools and Society? with Jay Bilas, Janet Hill, and Paul Haagen Don't miss this opportunity to see old and meet new Duke friends as well as hear our panelists discuss the sustainability of the amateurism model used by the NCAA for generations, whether college athletes should be paid a stipend or permitted to earn money, and the regulation and realities of playing college sports at the highest level, among other topics. The Wharton Club of Charlotte invites you to a presentation that examines the intriguing relationship between Entrepreneurs, Professional Managers and Hymie Negin. A fascinating theory guides Hymie Negin when he plunges into saving failing companies. Hymie has made a career of company turnarounds and restructuring on two continents. Some of these companies were originally managed by entrepreneurs, some by professional managers, all faced down diculties, and many were in danger of disappearing into the nefarious "Bermuda Triangle." Hymie will share some specic experiences, and explain the theory that has guided him through many turnarounds and restructurings, startups and divestitures. This presentation will be of particular interest to Bankers, Private Equity Groups, lawyers, financial advisors to new companies, and entrepreneurs.

Duke Alums Engage is a new program being launched by the Duke Alumni Association in 20 cities. Learn the principles of service learning through this nationwide program that will take community service to a new level.

Duke volunteers in Charlotte, we will be serving at Crisis Assistance Ministries. During each shift, volunteers will be sorting clothes and other household items. This is a family friendly event intended for children middle school age and older.

Stephen E. Macadam is President and Chief Executive Officer of EnPro Industries. Macadam joined EnPro from BlueLinx Holdings Inc., a leading North American distributor of building products, where he served as chief executive officer since October 2005. Prior to joining BlueLinx, Macadam served from 2001 to 2005 as president and chief executive officer of Consolidated Container Company, a manufacturer of molded plastic containers. Before joining Consolidated Container, Macadam spent three years as an executive at Georgia Pacific Corporation. Earlier, Macadam worked at McKinsey & Company, where he became a principal. Macadam holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky, a master of science degree in finance from Boston College and a master of business administration from the Harvard Business School. He is also a director of Solo Cup Company. He and his wife, Marie, have four children. Enpro Industries manufactures and markets industrial sealing products, seals for heavy-duty trucking, metal polymer and filament wound bearings, air compressors, and diesel and natural gas-fired engines. Enpro operates 33 manufacturing facilities in North and South America, Europe and Asia; Enpro employs about 4,700 people worldwide and Enpro sells its products to more than 50,000 customers in over 100 countries across the globe.

Fuqua alumni are invited to club activities based on their city of residence or employment. Are you only planning to be in Charlotte temporarily? - Offer to host an alumni event at your business, home, or work place.
- Get involved with club leadership.
- Suggest events and ideas for activities you'd like to see in your city.
- Recommend a personal or professional speaker or make a presentation yourself.
