You will have the opportunity to create and deliver your elevator pitch to a small group of 8-10 people at your round table, receive feedback, network with other MBA alumni, and trade company names and contacts. This event is very structured, so you dont have to worry about how to approach people and what to say. Its great for alumni who are uncomfortable with networking and for alumni who are in a job search or trying to gain new clients or investors. Creative Growth Group www.creativegrowthgroup.com is a firm founded by Fuqua '94 Full Time MBA graduate, Andrew Dietz. It focuses on helping professional services firms grow clients and revenue. In order to equip professionals to go-to-market with a high degree of presence, Creative Growth offers a unique workshop for its clients called, "The Seven Laws of Gravitas: Executive Presence for Professionals." While this program is usually delivered as an intensive full day program, as a Fuqua alumnus, Andrew has agreed to facilitate, at no cost to us, a brief overview version of this executive presence program exclusively for members and friends of our Chicago alumni club.

Summer is here! We all know that warm weather helps bring Chicagoans out of their homes and out and about in their communities! Duke Alumni participation with the Ravenswood Mobile Food Pantry seems to make a greater impact each month! It's estimated that we have supported almost 4,000 individuals since we started working on this effort in October. Last month was no exception, with a ratio of at least 10 individuals provided for, by every each volunteer that was present!

DukeGEN - Entrepreneurship
Pere Rigo '00 and Jordan Curnes M.B.A. '07 have taken over leadership of the Entrepreneurship focused Chicago DukeGEN group. In 2011, the plan is to have monthly meetings open to all members of the Duke community interested in Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital, starting their own business, or vetting ideas and business plans. We are currently looking for speakers for the monthly meetings to share their own experiences with starting/operating a business, working in venture capital, or anything relating to entrepreneurship. Please email Pere Rigo at pmr@alumni.duke.edu if you would be willing to speak at a future meeting in 2011.
Also, we are starting an Duke Chicago Entrepreneurship email list for more frequent (monthly) communications related to our meetings and other Entrepreneurship events happening in Chicago that we are invited to join (often organized by Kellogg or Booth.)
