    NYC: DukeGEN Happy Hour

    Description

    Fuqua alumni are invited to a DukeGEN happy hour at Faces and Names. The DukeGEN Happy Hour is an informal semi-annual networking event to connect the entrepreneurial community of Duke University alumni, parents, and students in the New York City area.

    Notes

    We will be in a reserved area in the back lounge, there will be a DukeGEN sign indicating where we are, and name tags will be available. Organized by: Tom Powell '09 and Michael Cann, Jr. '95.


    New York: Duke Alums Engage

    Description

    Duke Alums Engage is a new program being launched by the Duke Alumni Association in 20 cities. Learn the principles of service learning through this nationwide program that will take community service to a new level.

    Notes

    Join the Duke Alumni Association (DAA), DCNY, and Action Center to End World Hunger for a half or full day of action, education and reflection. Explore the root causes of hunger and learn specific actions you can take whether you have a minute, an hour, a week, a month, a year or a whole lifetime. Throughout the day, there will be a variety of thought-provoking and fun activities for adults and kids.

    Description

    The Association of Business School Alumni Professionals has organized a series of Speed Networking events around the country for top business schools, and Fuqua alumni are invited. 6:00pm-6:30pm Registration; 6:30pm-6:45pm Session on career strategies and networking tips; 6:45pm-8:00pm Speed networking.

    Notes

    Hosted via SpeedNetworking.com on behalf of the participating schools. Pre-registration is mandatory via the event website: $35 per participant.

    Description

    DukeGEN hosts informal semi-annual networking events to connect the entrepreneurial community of Duke University alumni, parents, and students in New York City. This event will start with a panel of experienced entrepreneurs and investors who will discuss how some start-ups are managing to prosper in the weak economic environment.     There are a number of ways to get involved with Fuqua Alumni Club of New York:

    1. Make sure your contact information is up to date in the alumni directory . In order to receive information via e-mail about activities in your region, your contact information must be current. Fuqua alumni are invited to club activities based on their city of residence or employment. Are you only planning to be in New York temporarily? E-mail the Alumni Relations office , and we can make sure you are on the club's e-mail distribution list. 
    2. Offer to host an alumni event at your business, home, or work place.  
    3. Get involved with club leadership.  
    4. Suggest events and ideas for activities you'd like to see in your city.
    5. Recommend a personal or professional speaker or make a presentation yourself.
