Summer Happy Hour
July 27, 2006, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

DFW area Fuqua alumni, students and interns gathered to take a break from the heat at our 2006 Summer Happy Hour on July 27, 2006. They enjoyed an evening of mixing and mingling at the Texas Bar & Grill in Irving, Texas.

Alumni and Students Gather for Summer Happy Hour

We had a handful of 2006 classmates interning in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area this summer at companies such as Frito-Lay, RadioShack, 7-Eleven and Booz-Allen. Many of us have never lived in Texas, so a gathering with the DFW Fuqua Alumni Club provided a great opportunity to meet and learn from local Fuquans. We held a Thursday night happy hour at the Cadillac Bar in Dallas’ West End right before the Fourth of July. For a holiday weekend, we had a decent turnout with about 12 alumni and class of 2006 interns.

We really appreciated DFW Fuqua Alumni Club president Rick Martinez for helping to pick the location and to organize the event. My classmates and I also enjoyed closing the night with alumna Priscilla Meadows '87 who inspired us with her stories of the Duke MBA International Retreat in Prague and her recent enjoyment of early retirement. While we don’t want our final year at Fuqua to end, we now know that our future as alumni looks bright! - John Triggs ’06
