CASE Bids Fond Farewell to Beth Anderson
The Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) announced that managing director and lecturer Beth Anderson will be leaving the Fuqua School of Business in June. Beth has accepted an exciting opportunity to join the management team of Teach For America as the vice president for foundation relations.
Since arriving at the Fuqua School of Business with co-founder Professor Greg Dees in 2001, Beth has overseen the successful launch and growth of CASE—a research and education center that promotes the entrepreneurial pursuit of social impact through the thoughtful adaptation of business expertise.
In a recent message to the Fuqua community, Dees noted, “Beth has been the heart and soul of our work here, and she has led the way in establishing CASE as an integral part of Fuqua and Duke University. In the past five years, CASE has developed an international reputation as a leader in the field of social entrepreneurship, attracted a distinguished Board of Advisors, built meaningful relationships around Duke and the Durham community, engendered great faculty support at Fuqua and provided high quality education and opportunities to an increasingly talented and diverse group of students at Duke. Fuqua was recognized by Net Impact as the no. 1 program in social enterprise last fall and Beth deserves most of the credit for launching CASE and putting it on such strong footing. She is a remarkable talent and will be missed… Working with her at Stanford and Duke for the past seven years has been a joy.”
For a more detailed account of CASE achievements under Beth’s leadership, please read “CASE Impact, 2002-Present.”
Commenting on her departure, Beth noted, “It has not been easy to decide to leave the first job I’ve ever loved… Much of my pleasure and satisfaction from this job has undoubtedly been my interactions with smart, passionate, and dedicated students and alumni. I thank you all for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to staying in touch. I, like you, expect great things to come from CASE and Fuqua after my departure, and I will always be ready and willing to help however I can.”
Although CASE, the Social Impact Club, and the entire Team Fuqua are saddened by Beth’s departure, we are proud that she will play a key role in the growth of one of America’s premier social sector organizations. In keeping with her outstanding contributions to Duke, we know that Beth will bring to Teach For America her talent for thoughtful leadership, innovation, and collaboration, as well as an outrageous ambition to make a difference. We wish her well!
