An Update from Fuqua’s Minority Alumni Advisory Board

The Fuqua Minority Alumni Advisory Board was founded in 2008 to provide Fuqua with a formal structure to nurture, grow, and capitalize on the resources of the underrepresented minority community. To this end, the board has been actively planning and leading key initiatives that support students and alumni in three areas: career development, admissions, and development and alumni relations. In November 2011, board members convened for their bi-annual meeting. There was a rich dialogue evaluating recent achievements as well as goals for 2012. read more »

Black Quarterbacks Take Hits in the Media as Well as on the Field
Two black college quarterbacks, Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III, won the last two Heisman Trophy Awards. Nevertheless, black college quarterbacks are not viewed as positively as white quarterbacks for their leadership on the football field. Professors Andrew Carton from Pennsylvania State University's Smeal College of Business and Fuqua's Ashleigh Shelby Rosette analyzed online news reports on college football to provide a new perspective on the persistence of negative evaluations of black leaders. read more » |

Calling All Entrepreneurs: Join the DukeGEN Multi-City Networking Events and the Duke Start-Up Challenge
Duke's Global Entrepreneurship Network (DukeGEN) will be hosting its 9th Multi-City Networking Event on Wednesday, March 7. Alumni entrepreneurs may also be interested in entering the 13th annual Duke Start-Up Challenge. Alumni are eligible to compete, but not eligible to win the prize money.
