MMS: FoB students at orientationFuqua Launches the Master of Management Studies: Foundations of Business Program
On Monday, August 31, 2009, Dean Blair Sheppard, Deputy Dean Bill Boulding, and Duke President Richard Brodhead helped officially kick off one of Fuqua's newest and most innovative programs—Master of Management Studies: Foundations of Business (MMS: FoB). This pre-experience master's degree provides fundamental business knowledge and skills to position its students to obtain higher level analyst positions and then move faster along their career trajectories. read more »

Fighting Flu with Game Theory
flu graphicAs manufacturers race to test and deliver an H1N1 influenza vaccine by October, public health officials are working equally feverishly to determine how scarce doses should be allocated. Because supplies are expected to be short, governments may be tempted to buy large quantities of vaccine and antiviral treatments to protect their citizens. Yet research from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) indicates that in the case of some epidemics, countries would be best served by giving their drug supplies to another country. read more »

Fuqua Research Featured on Futurity.org
Futurity.org is a new Web project featuring research from Duke and 40 other leading universities. Futurity was conceived by Mike Schoenfeld, Duke’s Vice President for Public Affairs, and public affairs professionals from Stanford and the University of Rochester, as a way for universities to continue to reach the public with research news during a time when traditional newsrooms are slashing their reporting staff and budgets. So far, Futurity has featured work by Peng Sun, Gavan Fitzsimons, Manju Puri, and John Graham. read more »

This award will be presented to Dr. Keeney at the upcoming INFORMS Annual Meeting in San Diego. The annual award recognizes important contributions to the welfare of society by members of the operations research/management science profession. Dr. Keeney is being recognized for his many contributions to the analysis of important problems faced by government and society, as well as his work on value-focused decision making. Second quarter data from the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC) State of the Executive Search Industry Report revealed signs of recovery within the senior executive recruitment industry, as the decline in executive search activity brought on by the recession ended with a stabilized second quarter rising 1 percent over the first quarter of 2009. read more »
