Fuqua Alumni Give Back in New Orleans
While in town for the National Black MBA Association conference, a group of alumni and students, organized by Tyrone Thomas '04, spent a morning at Second Harvest sorting donated food for needy New Orleans residents. Among those in the group were: Ashanti Herndon '10, Prentis Murphy '03, Cameron Arrington '04, Najjiyya Perry '05, Wilson Muscadin '11, and Erika Jennings '10.

Faculty Research
Fuqua Faculty Receive High Honors
Research by Adriano Rampini, Associate Professor of Finance, and co-author Andrea Eisfeldt of Northwestern University, was recently honored by the Journal of Financial Economics. Rampini and Eisfeldt received second place in the Jensen Prize for "Managerial incentives, capital reallocation, and the business cycle," a paper examining the relationship between compensation and managers' willingness to reallocate underperforming resources to other business units.
Will Mitchell, the J. Rex Fuqua Professor of International Management, has received the Irwin Outstanding Educator award from the Business, Policy and Strategy division of the Academy of Management. The award recognizes Mitchell’s excellence as an educator, scholar and colleague, including his long and distinguished career mentoring PhD students and junior faculty members. |

Admissions Interviewers Needed in China
The Duke MBA Office of Admissions is seeking Daytime MBA alumni to serve as interviewers in both Shanghai and Beijing. Interviewers will be asked to assist at one, or all, of three interview weekends between October and April in either Shanghai or Beijing. CASE Announces National Business Plan Competition: Judges Needed!
Fuqua’s Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) has announced the creation of a first-of-its-kind collaboration of philanthropic funders, practitioners, researchers and others. This "Social Impact Exchange" aims to make it easier for top-performing social purpose organizations to make a meaningful and sustainable impact by serving more people in need. Fuqua Launches "The Future of Capitalism" Series
We are delighted to announce that Fuqua and McKinsey are collaborating on a four-part series, "The Future of Capitalism," to be hosted at Fuqua and shared with The McKinsey Quarterly’s online subscribers. The series will consist of forums on four topics: energy, the financial system, globalization and business education. The inaugural session, "Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Market Approaches to Choices and Trade-offs," will be held on Thursday, November 5, from 4-6 p.m. in Fuqua's Geneen Auditorium and feature a remarkable panel of experts and leaders: Tom Albanese, CEO, Rio Tinto; Aubrey McClendon, CEO, Chesapeake Energy; George McLendon, Chairman, PTP Energy, and Dean, Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, Duke University; Scott Nyquist, Managing Director of McKinsey’s Energy Practice; and Bill Timmerman, CEO, SCANA Energy.
