Alumni Panel: What to expect 20 years after earning your MBA- industry trends and personal career paths This will be a moderated forum to illuminate experiences and insights from the Daytime Class of 1992. It is designed to share both individual experiences and general themes. In a relaxed and conversational tone, but with a brief hint of a Socratic approach reminiscent of classical B-School pedigree, it will explore career decisions, particular highlights, and both professional and life lessons learned that might be valuable to others. Moreover, it will tease out thoughts about the next 20 years - in the way of industry trends and personal career paths. This will be both a fun and productive 90 minutes. Support your reunion class gift!
Reunion giving is great way to show your Fuqua pride and renew your commitment to the school. Your support of the Fuqua Annual Fund has an immediate impact in our students' experience, both inside and outside the classroom.
Want to learn more about reunion giving? Our frequently asked questions section below provides some key answers.
Why participate in Reunion giving?
The Fuqua School of Business is poised to claim a permanent place among the world's very best business schools. Philanthropy will be the transformative force to move the school into that position. Now is the time to inspire reunion-year alumni to realize their combined philanthropic potential and contribute to the most critical areas of the school.
How will my gift make an impact?
Your reunion year gift to the Fuqua Annual Fund goes directly to the most critical areas in need of support, including scholarships, faculty, and program innovation. Your unrestricted investment enables the school to acquire the best faculty, to attract the highest quality of students, and produce graduates who become global leaders of consequence.
How much should I give?
Philanthropy is a personal decision. Many decide to give because their career opportunities were a direct result of their Fuqua education. Many decide to give because of their stake in Fuqua's reputation and desire to participate in the ongoing efforts to advance the school. Others are responding to the strong sense of Team Fuqua that inspires a loyalty among alumni which is uncommon among top business schools. The final decision is yours. Give a meaningful amount that expresses all of your reasons.
We encourage you to consider a special stretch gift in honor of your reunion. Please consider increasing your level of support for Fuqua and sustaining that increase by making a multi-year pledge.Your increased support is a wonderful way to signal your ongoing commitment to your class and to the school
A gift at the Isle Maligne Society level ($1,000+ annually) will have a meaningful impact on Fuqua. IMS members are distinguished as leaders and the most generous supporters of the school. As such, they are recognized in Fuqua publications and on the electronic donor wall in the Fox Student Center. There will be a reception for IMS donors during reunion weekend which will be a great opportunity to meet other leadership donors to Fuqua and interact with Fuqua's dean, Bill Boulding.
A five-year pledge is a wonderful way to support Fuqua. Your sustaining gift benefits Fuqua by allowing the dean to anticipate cash flow for several years. As a donor, you benefit from having the luxury of extending your gift over a five-year period during which time you will not receive any Fuqua Annual Fund mailings. Your total pledge amount will be counted in the reunion class gift total.
Every Gift Counts! Participation from each and every alumnus is our goal. Please make your commitment to Team Fuqua today. High giving participation rates send a compelling message to our alumni, prospective students, peer schools, and corporate leaders.
How does my gift get counted?
- All gifts to the Fuqua Annual Fund received between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012, (including payments on existing pledges and outright gifts) will count toward the Reunion campaign goal.
- Matching gifts from corporations will count toward the goal if documentation of the matching gift is received between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012.
- If you and your spouse are both Fuqua alumni of the same class, you both will receive participation credit with your gift - one gift receives two participation credits.
- If you make a new multi-year pledge, the entire amount of your pledge will be counted toward reunion giving goals.
What are the different ways I can give?
There are many ways to give to the Fuqua Annual Fund including cash, check, and credit card, as well as planned giving options and appreciated securities. Some forms of gifts offer advantages to those who pay U.S. income taxes.
Corporate matching gifts are also an important source of support for the Fuqua Annual Fund. If your employer or your spouse's employer matches charitable contributions, please help your gift go farther by requesting a company match.
More information about forms of payment and company matching gifts can be found at www.fuqua.duke.edu/alumni/give_to_fuqua.
For more information about making a reunion gift, contact Mike Byerley, Assistant Director, Reunion Giving, at mike.byerley@duke.edu or +1.919.660.2916.
