Bakita, Tom

Class of '04
Aviat Networks, Senior Marketing Manager

Tom Bakita is the Senior Marketing Manager for IP Core initiatives at Aviat Networks. The solution enables high speed (4G) internet access to mobile devices. In this role Tom works closely with service providers around the world and travels internationally to support accounts and opportunities. Prior to joining Aviat Networks, Tom worked at Cisco Systems for 10 years as product line manager and software development engineer for mobile wireless systems. Prior to Cisco Systems, Tom worked at IBM Corporation for 10 years in a variety of mainframe-based software development and marketing roles. While at IBM Tom, lived for some time in London, England, supporting European accounts. Tom holds a BS in computer science from the Lyman Briggs School at Michigan State University and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He has enjoyed executive education in Marketing Management at Harvard Business School and a short course in cooking at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. Tom and his wife, Rali, have two children, Alex (12) and DiDi (10), and reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Bingaman, Peter

Class of '00
Technology Solutions Marketing, Principal and Founder

Peter is an accomplished global technology marketing leader who has generated over $125 million in profitable revenue growth for companies such as IBM, Nortel, LexisNexis and Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising. As a principal and founder of Technology Solutions Marketing, Peter now helps mid-size technology companies build greater marketing discipline and capability that will enable his clients to significantly accelerate the growth of their respective companies. Prior to founding Technology Solutions Marketing, Peter was Vice President of Global Marketing for Nortel Networks, Executive Managing Director for LexisNexis and Vice President of Product Marketing at IBM. Prior to IBM, Peter spent several years in Europe managing Saatchi & Saatchi's pan-European network supporting the Hewlett-Packard account.

Peter is a former board member of the Wilton Little League and Wilton Education Foundation. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bucknell University in 1986.  He received his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business in 2000.

Bolin, Dave

Class of '04
TyraTech Inc., Director of Regulatory Affairs

Dave Bolin is Director of Regulatory Affairs for TyraTech, Inc.  TyraTech develops novel, essential oil-based products for human health, animal health, and pesticide applications.  In his role, Dave provides the global registration strategy and interfaces with various government agencies to obtain regulatory approval.  Prior to joining TyraTech, Dave worked 14 years for BASF in various Research and Development roles for the AgroScience Division.  During this time, he led cross-functional teams in Registration, Product Development, and Project Management.  He was also a member of the BASF Corporate R&D Steering Committee with responsibilities for innovation initiatives, university relations, and recruitment / hiring of new Ph.D. chemists for the exclusive Professional Development Program.  Dave holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he was a Fuqua Scholar.  Dave and his wife, Kelly, have a son, Kevin (8), and reside in Raleigh, NC.

Barlow, Bruce

Class of '87
National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), Senior Director, Market Research

Bruce leads a full service market research business unit (with P/L responsibility) within the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, a trade association of 960 small, non- profit electric utilities owned by the consumers they serve. Collectively NRECA's member co-ops serve 12% of the US population and 75% of the nation's land mass.  In addition to legislative advocacy, the Association provides a wide range of services to its member systems including comprehensive employee benefits, education and training, technology research and development, consulting, and market research.   Bruce's group uses an evolving variety of qualitative and quantitative research techniques across both consumer and business audiences to provide insights to inform the critical business decisions made by NRECA and its member co-ops.  A significant portion of Bruce's work involves anticipating and tracking changes in consumers' circumstances, attitudes, and behaviors and advising co-ops how to best adapt to remain successful in this shifting landscape.  This role has taken on more importance in recent years with the changes afoot in the electric power industry.

Bruce has spent over 25 years wrestling with services marketing issues.  Prior to NRECA, he worked in a similar capacity in the financial services industry at Nasdaq, Sallie Mae, and Riggs National Bank.  Bruce's experience and skills set includes consensus building, product development,  service line enhancement,  marketing strategy development,  customer satisfaction and service quality measurement, web site usability testing, social media usage, focus group and workshop facilitation, consultative sales, and creative problem solving.   He enjoys the wide breadth of topics explored in his professional life and is happy to have found a job that matches his attention span.  
 
In addition to the MBA from Fuqua, Bruce holds a BS in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University. He is happily married to Kathy a classmate from Cornell. They have two children, Nicole, a junior at Old Dominion University, and Stephen, a senior at Bishop Ireton High School.  They live in suburban Washington DC.  In his spare time, Bruce studies and instructs Tae Kwon Do.  His is also an avid fan of  Bishop Ireton Crew, Washington Capitals hockey, and Duke Basketball.

Butler, Jay

Class of '10
Capital One Financial Services, Senior Business Analyst

Jay Butler is a Senior Business Analyst at Capital One Financial Services in Dallas, TX.  He currently works in Capital One Auto Finance on the Credit and Business Strategy team.  He and his team are responsible for setting credit policy and pricing, as well as analyzing credit and market risk for the Auto Finance business in both the dealer and direct lending channels.  Prior to moving to Auto Finance, Jay spent time as a business analyst in Capital One's U.S. Card business, working in Card Collections Strategy and Analysis.


Jay is extremely committed to serving his local community.  He volunteers his time as a facilitator and mentor at SMU with Leadership Edge Inc., a non-profit organization focused on providing leadership training and mentoring to college students in order to equip them to be leaders in their communities.  Jay also actively serves in Dallas' Habitat for Humanity.  Originally from Cape Cod, MA, Jay remains connected to his home community by serving on the board of the Patrick M. Butler Charitable Fund, a fund within the Cape Cod Foundation that raises money for roughly two dozen local charities, scholarships and foundations.


Jay graduated with a BA from Duke University in 2009, having majored in Public Policy and minored in Economics.  In 2010, he earned a Masters in Management Studies from Duke's Fuqua School of Business.  In his spare time, Jay enjoys playing any sport (currently hockey, tennis and golf), reading, and playing guitar.
