The Fuqua School of Business recognizes alumni contributions through two awards, the Alumni Impact Award and the Distinguished Service Award.

2011 Alumni Impact Award

Shaun Horrigan, Daytime MBA 2010

“Shaun’s efforts have spread the word about the positive impact that Fuqua makes
within the local community and have forged strong bonds with local community
leaders. Shaun is truly a leader of consequence in my book, and in the eyes of many
others who have been touched by his tireless efforts, creative problem-solving, and
dedication.”
—Kevin Henze, Daytime MBA ’11

The Alumni Impact Award was established in 2001 to recognize and honor individuals or teams who have bettered the school by investing their time and energy on a specific project. Award recipients' commitment to Fuqua is demonstrated by their willingness to work out unique solutions to create positive outcomes, and to take initiative to benefit the Fuqua community with their time, energy, and talents.

2011 Award for Exemplary Service

Bharat Tandon, Daytime MBA 1986

“Bharat is amazing and his involvement with Duke is multifaceted. As a member of the
India Advisory Board, Bharat volunteers his time and effort wherever needed across
Duke University. He interviews and recruits prospective undergraduates, business
students, and even 8th grade students for Duke’s Talent Identification Program… and
he does so personally, by opening his home to entertain these student prospects.
He’s a great ambassador for Duke in India.”
—Bob Markley, Director of Development, Global Strategy and Programs Office

“Bharat serves as a focal point for anybody coming from Fuqua or Duke to India. He is
a role model for alumni in this part of the world.”
—Vikrampati Singhania, Daytime MBA ’91

Jimmy Childre, Global Executive MBA '01 and HSM Certificate '07

“Jimmy is willing to serve Fuqua in any way he is asked, but he further distinguishes
himself by creating opportunities that will benefit our current students and programs.”
—Cindy Seymour, Assistant Director, Executive HSM Program

“In trotting the path with him, I have always observed the selflessness that he carries
with him in all of his engagements as individual, community citizen, and business
leader.”
—Anna Ramanathan, Cross Continent MBA ’07

The Award for Exemplary Service was established in 1991 to recognize individuals who demonstrate their dedication to Fuqua by donating their time, energy, talents, or financial support and who build networks through class activities, regional programs, and initiatives within their corporation, and service to current students and faculty. Award recipients have led by example in showing others how to strengthen the bonds between the school and its alumni and corporate partners.
