2007 CASE Scholars and Social Impact Club Cabinet Members Recognized for Outstanding Service and Leadership
Graduation Speaker. Dean's Recognition Awards. Asa T. Spaulding, Sr.
Award for Leadership. MBAA Club of the Year. The Class of 2007 CASE
Scholars and Social Impact Club leaders had much to celebrate as their
two years at Fuqua came to a close.
Inaugural CASE Scholars and Social Impact Club Co-Presidents Tom Mitchell and Tim Scheu were both recognized for their leadership. Tom was selected as class speaker for graduation, where he issued the following challenge to his classmates:
“Do not squander your abilities and opportunities. Build on what you have learned here, seek your own wisdom and do not cease your efforts to continue to learn and improve your intellect and self-awareness…. Avoid complacency and cynicism. The knowledge you posses can improve the lives of many, whether you improve distribution of HIV medication in sub-Saharan Africa or market a healthier potato chip.”
Tim received a Dean’s Recognition Award for Leadership, recognizing students whose service and commitment have made a significant positive impact on the Fuqua Community. Fellow SIC Cabinet Member Samit Chabra also received a Dean’s Recognition Award for Leadership. And SIC Community Involvement Chair Stephanie Nelson received the Asa T. Spaulding, Sr. Award for Leadership, the highest student leadership award at Fuqua. Stephanie was recognized in large part due to her vision and leadership in successfully launching and integrating into the Fuqua curriculum the first annual Habitat for Humanity “House that Fuqua Built.”
The efforts of these students and many other SIC leaders helped the
Social Impact Club win the MBAA “Club of the Year” award for the second
year in a row. The Club of the Year Award is given to the club that
has shown collective leadership in building relationships with students,
alumni, companies and faculty. Following are a few examples of the Social
