Business and law are intricately related, and a knowledge of one discipline will always be a complement to the other. As such, the JD/MBA has the longest tenure of Duke's joint degree programs.
The program allows you to earn degrees in both fields in only four years. You engage in cross-disciplinary study, which gives you the tools to better serve your business clients in a legal setting, or to leverage your legal knowledge in a business setting. Our graduates are positioned to become experts in such fields as contract law, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and corporate litigation.
Why Duke's JD/MBA?
Attending a top-ranked law school or business school is one thing, but to graduate from both puts you in a different league altogether. In addition to improved career options, you benefit from two professional networks and gain the skills to handle a multitude of problems at the intersection of business and law. Many Duke JD/MBA alumni take associate track positions at prestigious law firms, while an increasing number are opting to go into business taking high-profile jobs at top consulting firms, venture capital firms, and investment banks.
Note: JD/MBA students are fully enrolled at both schools and have the same support and resources as any other JD or MBA student.
