"Energy Efficiency in Action"
October 6, 2010, 3:00-7:00 pm
Energy efficiency is not only a critical factor in the quest for a low carbon economy, but also a smart business strategy for reducing costs and improving productivity. Nevertheless, efficiency can be a tough sell to companies with finite resources, where investments in efficiency may compete with projects that deliver revenue or profit growth. This seminar evaluated the nature of the efficiency opportunity, as well as the barriers and solutions for capturing that opportunity for particular companies: How do you make the case for efficiency? What tools can help focus and prioritize the most attractive options?
To explore the energy efficiency opportunity, we welcomed Brian Castelli, Executive Vice President of the Alliance to Save Energy, as our keynote speaker. Following his presentation, we welcomed Scott Tew, the Executive Director of Ingersoll-Rand's Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability, who led an interactive session for seminar participants focused on making the case for efficiency to customers. Ingersoll Rand is a $13 billion global diversified industrial company, selling products under the Trane, Thermo King, Schlage, Hussman, and many other brand names. Working with Tew and EDGE-affiliated faculty and staff, seminar participants evaluated specific business cases for efficiency investment, using state of the art analytic tools and live corporate examples.
