Teaching
MBA teaching in Fuqua's Day, Cross-Continent, Weekend, and Global MBA programs reflects the broad range of scholarship in the area. Management Area faculty teaches core courses in Managerial Effectiveness, Organizational Design, and Strategy in our MBA programs. We also teach electives on topics such as negotiation, leadership, power and politics, human resource management, business ethics, managing groups, managerial decision making, strategy, technology strategy, entrepreneurship, strategic modeling, business dynamics, alliance strategy, and international business. Our teaching helps students advance within their current positions and to prepare themselves for new careers.
The Management area has an active PhD program , which prepares students for research positions in decision making, organizational behavior, and strategy. Our students take doctoral level courses in the area's research fields, as well as in related theories and advanced research methods. The students develop research projects both within and across traditional subareas of management studies. During their first year, PhD students work closely with faculty members to produce and then present original research. At the end of their second year, PhD students take comprehensive examinations. These exams test their command of previous research in our core areas and check that they are prepared to conduct original research in one subject or in topics that cut across the subjects.
