The HSM program is designed for a wide range of health care professionals including physicians with senior management responsibilities and executives in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, provider, payor and related industries. The curriculum is designed to address the challenges of managing the business of health care from a wide range of industry and functional perspectives. The certificate has previously been available only to students in The Duke MBA – Daytime and The Duke MBA – Weekend Executive.
The Duke MBA – Global Executive is an 18-month program for executives averaging 14 years of work experience. This pioneering program, launched in 1996, combines unique residential sessions in Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America with Internet-enabled distance learning allowing students to live and work anywhere in the world.
Students pursuing this option will earn the full Global Executive MBA, while completing four additional courses to earn the HSM concentration. This will involve attending courses in Durham, North Carolina, outside of the standard Global Executive curriculum and schedule, and completing some coursework after graduation from the Global Executive program. There will be no additional tuition charge for Global Executive students who complete the HSM concentration within one year of graduation from the MBA program.
Global Executive students participating in the Health Sector Management program will attend HSM courses with students from the Weekend Executive program, following the Weekend Executive Health Sector Management program schedule.
Global Executive students will be responsible for arrangements and payment for travel, lodging and meals surrounding all HSM courses. Detailed lodging information and cost estimates are available upon request.
