DURHAM, N.C. –- Matt Nash, Associate Director of the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, has been awarded the inaugural Member Achievement Award by Net Impact. Net Impact is an international nonprofit organization whose mission is to make a positive impact on society by growing and strengthening a community of new leaders who use business to improve the world.

Nash has been the Associate Director of the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business for the last three years. Before joining the Fuqua team, Nash served as a Senior Consultant in Strategy and Change Solutions with the Public Sector Practice at IBM Business Consulting Services. He earned his MBA from the Yale School of Management. After earning his undergraduate degree from Yale - where he was recognized for his public service contributions - Nash volunteered with the U.S. Peace Corps in Romania.

Those nominating Nash for the award offered overwhelming praise. “He’s a rainmaker,” Suzanne Steffens, of Fuqua’s Class of 2008, wrote in her nomination letter. “He works constantly for the good of the school and its students and ultimately to make a difference.”

“Matt was the only staff member at any school that offered to meet with me in person during one of my visits,” Jenny Harms, Net Impact Chapter Leader at Duke recalls. “He spent over an hour with me discussing my interests and career goals.” MBAA President Charles Scrase also praised Nash’s commitment to helping incoming students. “He spent an afternoon with my wife and I showing me around Fuqua and sharing his story with me,” Scrase wrote in his nomination letter. “When I finally decided to come to Duke, Matt was my first ally among the staff.”

Acknowledgement of Nash’s dedication and ability poured in from his colleagues and peers. Associate Professor Michael Lenox wrote, “Matt has been a tireless advocate and mentor for the Social Impact Club at Duke. The Social Impact Club is one of the most successful student organizations at Fuqua due in no small part to Matt. Matt is an amazing resource, ally, and friend for students.” Gregory Dees, Professor of the Practice of Social Entrepreneurship and Nonprofit Management wrote, “Matt Nash is a highly effective, and tireless advocate, for both student interests and education and the expansion of social sector priorities in business education…He’s an incredible force for change.”
