Footprints Conference Examines Sustainability in Business

The Duke MBA Net Impact Club hosted its annual Footprints Conference on February 18, examining the roles of social responsibility and sustainability in business.
The closing keynote address was delivered by Rosalind Kainyah, president of DeBeers USA . Kainyah detailed the jewelry company’s efforts to “turn natural resources into shared national wealth” through a series of initiatives in Botswana , the site of DeBeers’ diamond mining operations. Chief among these efforts are supporting the fight against AIDS, building partnerships with government, and shifting a number of jobs to Africa .
