Daytime student Steve Misuraca wasted no time getting involved at Fuqua and the larger Duke community.
Steve's Thoughts:
Fuqua has allowed me to step outside my comfort zone. The curriculum and unlimited community resources have provided the platform for me to experiment with different leadership styles and practice new techniques, among my very talented peers. I took an active role in my education and was surprised at how much I learned.
I tried to surround myself with phenomenally gifted classmates in my roles as MBA Association Student Life Executive Officer and Blue Devil Weekend Co-Chair with the hope that some of their wisdom and talents would rub off! I am continually humbled by the generosity of my classmates and invigorated by their passion to leave a legacy.
Both inside and outside the classroom, the spirit of "taking the lead" and "giving back" is contagious, and is a significant part of our special and unique culture.
From the moment I stepped on campus, second year students reached out to me to help guide me on my journey. I owe a great deal to those early mentors who pushed me to take on new roles, and supported me as I pushed my limits.
I leave Fuqua more courageous and self-aware. I have learned my strengths and weaknesses and have gained confidence in my ability to do what is right. I will forever cherish the many meaningful relationships and unbelievable experiences that highlighted my two short years at Fuqua.
I honestly feel that there are new opportunities to grow everyday and that there are surprises around almost every corner. I remember feeling like a young boy on Christmas when I got to meet Coach K as a COLE Leadership Fellow last year. He has been a role model and inspiration throughout my professional and personal life. I am also fortunate that I was given the opportunity to follow a lifelong passion of working for Duke Athletics through my mentored study with the Duke Athletic Department. I walk into Cameron Indoor Stadium with goose bumps knowing that I am contributing to such an amazing community. I often feel blessed to be part of such a wonderful place!
Steve Misuraca (Daytime '09) has served as: MBA Association Student Life Executive Officer, Blue Devil Weekend Co-Chair, Fuqua Admissions Fellow, Fuqua Admissions Ambassador, Fuqua Leadership Fellow, Duke Graduate and Professional Student Council Rep , and Lead Student Teaching Entrepreneurship Program Coordinator. He also participated in Fuqua on Board and Mentored Study for the Duke Athletic Department. He was a member of the Fuqua Dean's List.
