On November 5th, the former president of Colombia visited Fuqua

November 06, 2012

Students at Fuqua get to hear from many prominent leaders. On November 5th, they were able to glean insights from a former president.

Alvaro Uribe was elected President of Colombia in 2002 and was re-elected to a second term in 2006. Invited by Fuqua's Latin American Student Association (LASA), Uribe spoke about "Leadership Lessons and Growth Opportunities for Latin America: Learning from Colombia's Economic and Social Transformation" during a Duke event at the Geneen Auditorium.

Uribe has plans to start a university in Colombia, and was able to meet with Fuqua Dean Bill Boulding and other administrators to learn more about higher education in the United States. We asked Uribe about his future plans and the economic turnaround in Colombia in a Fuqua Q and A video interview.
