February 09, 2012

DURHAM, N.C. -- Narayana Murthy, founder and chairman of Infosys, is the keynote speaker for the Duke India Business Forum on Friday, Feb. 17, at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Murthy will speak from 4-5 p.m. The forum, free and open to the public, will take place at Fuqua's Geneen Auditorium. Now in its fourth year, the annual forum was designed to showcase some of the innovations in technology and entrepreneurship within India, the world's largest democracy.

Murthy founded Infosys, the global software consulting company headquartered in Bangalore, India, in 1981. Today the company has some 145,000 employees and offices in 29 countries. Murthy is credited for having articulated, designed and implemented the global delivery model which has become the foundation for the huge success in India's IT services outsourcing. As a result, he has been recognized with numerous honors and distinctions over the years.

Forum attendees can also learn about various other aspects of India's business environment.

The forum begins at 1:30 p.m. with an entrepreneurship panel. Speakers include Satyen Patel, president and CEO of Kanusul Capital LLC; Gaurav Mehta, founder and CEO of Project Dharma/Gajam India Private Limited; and Sandeep Ahuja, founder and CEO of Operation ASHA.

This will be followed by a technology session that will look at India beyond outsourcing. Speakers on this panel are Sandeep Dadlani, head of retail, logistics and consumer packaged goods practice for Infosys in the Americas; Sudheer Kuppam, managing director for India, Japan, Australasia and South East Asia at Intel Capital; and Arun Maheshwari, founder and general partner of the RisingSun Ventures.

India is one of five locations outside of the United States in which the Fuqua School of Business has a global presence.
