Chatterji Appointed to President's Council of Economic Advisers

Strategy faculty member will work on economic policy development related to small businesses, innovation and entrepreneurship.

May 04, 2010

Ronnie Chatterji, Assistant Professor of Strategy at The Fuqua School of Business, has been selected for a one-year appointment as a Senior Economist with President Obama's Council of Economic Advisers.   The Council is charged with offering the President objective economic advice on the formulation of both domestic and international economic policy.

Chatterji will provide analysis and recommendations to aid economic policy development related to small businesses, innovation and entrepreneurship.  He has taken a one-year leave of absence from his teaching and research duties at Duke in order to serve on the Council.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Ronnie and exactly the kind of deeply intellectual public service that Duke faculty aspire to contribute," said Mary Frances Luce, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Fuqua.

"I am honored to be joining the Obama Administration to work on economic policy issues at such an important time. I hope that I can contribute to policies that spur entrepreneurship and innovation, which I believe are the foundation for economic growth," Chatterji said. "The skills I have gained at Duke and the practical insights I have developed through my work with entrepreneurs and community leaders will be invaluable in this new role."
