Born and raised in France, Bertrand started his international business career in Germany in 1992 after completing his undergraduate studies in France where he earned two undergraduate degrees in International Marketing and International Business. In 1997, he earned his MBA in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, and then he worked for American Express in Phoenix, Arizona, and Nortel Networks in RTP, North Carolina. In 2002, he joined Fuqua. Bertrand has managed the International Programs Office since 2004. In 2007, Bertrand became the P.I.M. Chair for North America. In 2010, he was appointed Chairman of the P.I.M. Strategic Advisory Board.
A native of Durham, Samira has always been interested in learning about other cultures and languages. She has lived abroad in England, Germany, and Moldova, where she served as a Peace Corps Health Education Volunteer. She speaks Romanian and German. Samira holds a BA in International Studies and German from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, MI and MA in International Education from The George Washington University.
Samira acts as a school representative to institutional partners and vendors, as well at the annual Partnership in International Management (PIM) conference and the annual NAFSA conference where she holds presentations and meets with strategic school partners. She is the primary lead on the Exchange programs (incoming and outgoing), and supports the GATEs programs and other activities and initiatives for the International Programs Office and Fuqua.
Adjunct Professor and Practicum Faculty Director, and Curriculum Practical Training (CPT) Advisor
James (Jim) Emery is a Faculty Director for Fuqua's Client Consulting Practicum and an Adjunct Professor in the Management and Organizations department at Fuqua. His advisory role in the CPT program involves helping students plan their summer internship project papers and conducting the final review and approval of those project papers. Jim's research focuses on loyalty, trust and inspiration in leader-follower relationships and how educational experiences affect leadership development. He has also provided executive education and leadership coaching to for-profit corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies over the past eight years. Jim received his PhD and MBA from Fuqua.
