Mark Williams E ’92, MBA ’96 Receives 2013 May-Penn Award of Excellence

E '92, MBA '96 was recognized for his long history of giving his time and talent to the Fuqua community with the May-Penn Award of Excellence.

Mark has served on Fuqua's Minority Alumni Advisory Board since its inception in 2008 and is currently the board's Chair. Under Mark's leadership, the board has helped to increase support of the Fuqua Annual Fund among members of the underrepresented minority alumni community, developed a career mentoring program to support current students, and enhanced alumni engagement with Fuqua's diversity recruiting initiatives. Mark has also served as the board's Vice Chair and has headed the board's Careers Taskforce. He was instrumental in launching the board's career mentorship program, connecting underrepresented minority students with alumni for one-to-one mentorship. Mark's willingness to go the extra mile to drive the board's initiatives, support current and prospect students, and help his fellow alumni have distinguished him as a genuine and compassionate leader in the Fuqua community.

In addition to his contributions to Fuqua, Mark is also very committed to his community. He has served on the National Advisory Board for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Urban Health Initiative and is also a United States-Japan Leadership Program fellow.

Mark is currently Managing Director in Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Private Placements Group. He is responsible primarily for structuring and marketing privates corporate bond offerings in North America, Australia and Europe. Mark and his wife, Stacy, reside in Chicago with their son, Mark Jr., and daughter, Gabrielle.

The May-Penn Award of Excellence was established in 2006 in honor of Owen May MBA '83 and Derek Penn MBA '84 for their longstanding commitment, leadership, and exemplary service to The Fuqua School of Business. The May-Penn Award of Excellence is the highest honor Black and Latino MBA Organization (BLMBAO) alumni can bestow upon a peer.
