Happy Birthday!
We asked the alumni celebrating a birthday today, October 18, "Where are you now?" Here's what they said:
Lou Grilli MBA ‘92
I graduated from the EEMBA program and am now the AVP of Product Development at Trellance, a not-for-profit company based in Tampa. Follow me on Twitter! @lougrilli
Dan Halperin MBA ‘97
My family and I recently relocated to Melbourne, Australia where I started a new job with Shell leading solar power business development. My wife appreciates being closer to family and my boys (9 and 10) are enjoying being immersed in Australian Rules Football! To my '97 classmates -- let me know if you plan to visit (d_halper@yahoo.com).
Kun Taing MBA ‘12
I recently partnered with a close friend to start 2KB Energy Services, a sustainability-focused consulting and program management firm. Over the past year, we've been working with the City of Atlanta on several key projects aimed at resource recovery and water / energy usage improvement. One of the key projects involves converting biosolid waste to fertilizer for local farms! I've also been on the Board of Directors for EarthShare of GA, an NGO that connects people to trusted nonprofit organizations dedicated to conserving and protecting our air, land and water. One of the latest projects we've been involved with is helping the City of Atlanta build it's first Community Urban Food Forest, a public park with food-bearing trees and trees to help feed those that may be hungry in the community. Outside of work, my wife and I recently purchased a house deep in the forests of Atlanta and have been hacking away at all the ivy to ensure the massive trees around us live a long and healthy life. As you may be able to tell, I'm very focused on creating a sustainable and resilient community in Atlanta!
Mike Weissel MBA ‘96
I’ve been working at Optum leading product and strategy for the past 5 years. I live up in the Boston area although my job has me traveling all over the country all the time. It’s scary to think I have 2 kids in college (not Duke I’m afraid) and one still in high school - so there is still hope. We love watching all the Boston sports teams roll up championships and spend a lot of time at the beach in Narragansett, RI.
Jillian Ziarko MMS ‘10
After Fuqua I worked hard to build my career at Goldman Sachs, where I'm a VP. Two of my weekly non-negotiables continue to be morning runs around Brooklyn and hosting a Sunday night dinner for a group of friends. I continue to support Duke and Fuqua - Go Blue Devils!
