We asked the alumni celebrating a birthday on January 16, "Where are you now?" Here's what they said:
Ben Butler, Cross Continent MBA 2011
I am based in the Washington, DC metro area serving as the worldwide Senior Manager for Big Data marketing at Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing division of Amazon.com. I have kept up with the worldwide traveling from my CCMBA days by conducting business for Amazon in London, Mexico City, Toronto, and Singapore as well as recurring trips to NYC, Silicon Valley, and Seattle. When I'm at home, I enjoy spending time with my wife of 12 years, Kimberly, and my son, Benji (9).
Hunter Chappell, MMS 2012
I currently reside in Washington, DC, where I work for a commercial real estate research firm. I can honestly say my Fuqua and Duke connections remain as strong post-graduation as they did while I attended school. I am very grateful for the outstanding education I received and the ability to call myself a part of Team Fuqua.
Derek Locke, Daytime MBA 1998
I'm living in Overland Park, KS, with my wife, Julie, and three kids, Zoe (15), Hope (13), and Noah (11). Amazingly I'm still with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), which I joined right after graduating from Fuqua in 1998, and am a Partner out of our Dallas office. Our kids are a blast and keep us pretty busy - outside of that I love watching Kansas Jayhawks sports (one of the few Fuquans that enjoyed KU beating Duke earlier this year - sorry!), running, and trying to hit the links now and then.
Erin McCormack, Daytime MBA 2002
I am currently Director of Innovation for the AICPA—working in Durham and living in Raleigh. The day after my birthday, I am flying to Cartagena, Colombia, with Daytime MBA 2002 classmate and friend Rachel Fefer for vacation.
Chad Mikula, Daytime MBA 2000
I'm turning 41 on January 16, and I'm wishing I wasn't buried in the frigid Chicago winter! Enjoying work, family, and missing everyone from Fuqua 2000! Carlos Boozer sat in the skybox next to ours at a recent Blackhawks game...said hello to him...made me miss Durham! Go Duke!
Rick Minicucci, MHA 1971
I'm a partner in the Law Firm of Nixon Peabody LLP, a worldwide law firm. I practice in the Healthcare area, specializing in the representation of academic medical centers.
W. Mark Rader, MHA 1991
I am the Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Medical Center, an HCA-affiliated hospital located in the Fort Lauderdale area of south Florida. I have worked for HCA since 1995. My wife, Amy, and daughter, Helen Renee, and I reside in Parkland, FL.
David Roberts, Global Executive MBA 2006
I'm currently living in Westport, CT, married to Olga and have three children - Isabella, Michael and Luca. I'm Managing Director at WTAS LLC in New York City, where I'm responsible for the firm's International Private Client practice.
Vivek Sugavanam, Daytime MBA 2006
I am learning how to handle my infant daughter. Fuqua taught me about many things, but I still know little about managing wily babies.
May Topper, Daytime MBA 1986
I'm living in Silicon Valley, near Apple and Stanford University. I'm married, and just celebrated 21 (mostly) blissful years of marriage. Raising two teenage girls, ages 17 and 14, and beginning to become maudlin over the oldest heading off to college next fall. I'm currently serving as president of a local non-profit organization and finally learning to play tennis.
Marc Vaglio-Laurin, Daytime MBA 1989
After initially pursuing a career in corporate finance for seven years, I moved into business analytics software and have worked at SAS in Cary, NC, since 1996. While my Fuqua MBA has served me well during my career, I am currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern.
Chris Williams, Daytime MBA 1991
I am the Head of Individual Investor Marketing and Advertising at the Vanguard Group, the country's largest mutual funds firm. My wife, Dell (MHA '91), and I live in Berwyn, PA, having moved to the Philly area in 1997.
