What do you do professionally?

I own a home care agency—providing care primarily to seniors—in their homes and in facilities. We provide personal care services, meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, laundry, and pet care services to our clients. 

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

I love making a difference in someone's life. We make a huge difference in the quality of life of our clients.

What is the biggest challenge you face?

Staffing. Like many other home care agencies, we have a lot of people who will schedule interviews, then don't show up. We spend a lot of our time and energy focusing on hiring new, qualified staff and training them. 

What sorts of interesting places has your position taken you? Do you have a favorite?

I've worked overnight shifts, because I'm one of those odd people who can stay up all night. My favorite memories are of one of our first clients, and staying up all night with him, talking, and holding his hand.

What is the best professional advice you've received?

This business is about persistence, and consistency. Learning to be consistent is critical in business.

Aside from your current role, what is your dream job?

I also am a business coach, and love to do that. I'm in the process of franchising Extension of You—and we should be franchising in the next month or two. Coaching new franchisees and spreading my vision is my dream job.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I'm a Girl Scout troop leader, and I blog, and write books. 

What is the most important thing you learned during your time at Fuqua?

I learned to make very, very effective use of my time (and some people speculate that I don't actually sleep, LOL).

Who was your favorite professor?

Sim Sitkin—the Leadership Program is phenomenal. I still have my red shoe, and am working away on my goals.

What is your favorite Fuqua memory?

My favorite Fuqua memory was some of the videos that were produced in the leadership class. One in particular was incredibly tongue in cheek, and hilarious. 

What does Team Fuqua mean to you?

It's the concept that everyone at Fuqua is a team, we all work together, no matter where we are, where we are from, or what we do.
