Happy Birthday!

We asked the alumni celebrating a birthday today (January 21), "Where are you now?" Here's what they said:

Walter Beach MBA '91
I live with my wife, Patty, and beautiful 7-year-old daughter, Gillian, in San Rafael, California (just north of the Golden Gate Bridge).  Besides raising Gillian, Patty and I run our business - Harris and Lee Environmental Sciences.  We regularly see fellow Fuquans Dan MBA '91 and Elaine Everest MBA '92 (San Francisco) and Jeff Day MBA '91 (Basel, Switzerland).

Ellen Berkowitz MBA '83
I live in Philadelphia, and have worked for Aramark Corporation almost 27 years.

Jim Caldwell MBA '98
My wife, Linda, and I have been living in San Antonio, TX, for the past 17 years.  I am working at Southwest Research Institute as a Staff Technical Specialist. SwRI is one of the oldest and largest independent, nonprofit, applied research and development organizations in the United States.
The Institute occupies more than 1,200 acres and provides more than 2.5 million square feet of laboratories, test facilities, workshops and offices.

Yee Wee Chun MBA '00
I live in Kuala Lumpur. I founded and run a Business Professional Prep provider called Noesis with centers in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Simmi Malhotra Degnemark MBA '99
I live in Brooklyn, NY, with my Fuqua exchange husband, Morten, and our two kids, Maya (12) and Millan (10).  I work as a nonprofit consultant.  In our spare time, we enjoy traveling the world, meeting family and friends and trying new food.

Joshua Fischer MBA '07
Living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with my wife, Jillian, and basset hound, "The Goose." We met while I was a first-year and she was a junior at Duke, so that worked out. Currently working as the VP of Product & Analytics for the popular blogging/social network app Bloglovin'.

Ulrich Hermans MBA '95
My family and I still live in Houston, but I left the corporate rat race last year and joined a small alternative energy start-up that's developing the hydrogen infrastructure for the roll-out of fuel cell vehicles into the market.  Check us out at www.hydrogenxt.com (we are always looking for investors).  Last year also saw the birth of my daughter, so between that and the excitement of a start-up I am not getting much sleep!

Kelsey Hogg MBA '14
Living in Boston, MA, working for Google as a Product Solutions Lead at YouTube and recently married to a fellow Fuqua grad, Grant Reckhow MBA '13.

Ralph H. Holthouser MHA '64
Residing in Winston Salem, NC, and Florida. Serving on the boards of community charitable organizations.

Julián Montes MBA '04
Marketing Director for Arysta LifeScience Mexico, biosolutions company in the agrochemical industry.

Rachel Morowitz MBA '99
I'm based in DC, but I spend most of my time traveling to amazing places around the world, for work and for fun!

Eduardo Prada MBA '15
I am currently in New York working for MetLife as a Director of Strategic Initiatives for the US Pension business. As part of a rotational program, I have the opportunity to have three different roles in the next five years, with at least one international assignment. The biggest challenge of my current job (and what I like the most about it, too) is dealing with the uncertainty of an always-changing business environment.

Sandy Clingan Smith '80, MBA '83
For two decades, I have lived in Nashville with my husband, Steve, and two college-aged children.   Professionally, I lead strategic planning sessions around the country for AMSURG's ambulatory surgery centers. In addition, I am a spiritual director and retreat leader. One of my joys has been taking my son back to Cameron for a game!
