Why I Chose Fuqua

Coming to business school was a big decision and a large shift outside of my comfort zone from a skill perspective. Therefore I wanted a school where I felt there was an environment to take risks with my learning, fail and try again without risk of judgment. Team Fuqua is very real, and the community’s emphasis on supportive ambition—the principle that ‘your success is my success’—among other values, was a key driver in my decision.

My focus is impact investing, a curriculum that supports this ambition was also important, and CASE is a leading organization in this area.

5 Random Things About Me

  1. Spending 10 years in Philadelphia curated quite the palate - I love trying new restaurants and often attempt recreating the most memorable dishes in my kitchen with a relatively high success rate.
  2. When I was little, I wanted to be an entertainment lawyer when I grew up, with Michael Jackson as a client.
  3. I was a dancer in a former life - ballet & modern dance - and was an apprentice in a dance company before heading to boarding school.
  4.  My younger sister and I are 20 years apart, and she already has aspirations of coming to Duke like me.
  5. Two years ago I moved to Atlanta which began my love affair with southern living. I am very excited to begin my career in the southeast.

My Life Before Fuqua

Most of my career has been in talent. I was a Recruiter for McKinsey & Company, and before that, I worked in human capital consulting at Towers Watson and in career management at The Wharton School working with companies as a Recruiting Relationship Manager.

My Life After Fuqua

I hope to transition into financial services, specifically investing. Ultimately, I would like to work for an impact investing firm or philanthropic organization focused on education and tackling the achievement gap within the U.S.

What I Love About Durham

It's a relatively large city, with a small-town feel. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I was quite excited to come to the place the NY Post called the “Foodie Capital of the South.”

There is such variety and culinary excellence without any of the pretentiousness of larger cities. I'm equally passionate about fitness and have found no shortage of interesting classes and offerings around the city.

I also love that I have a townhouse, with more space than I've ever had in apartment living in Philadelphia or Atlanta, for a fraction of the price. Durham is awesome!
