Why I Chose Fuqua

Duke’s academic standing and worldwide reputation, the network in the Health Sector Management program, and North Carolina’s enjoyable living environment were major factors in my decision.

The campus visit convinced me. My interviewer quickly set up a trusting relationship and took the time to share his own experience. I was amazed by the impressive facilities, and how students were available to answer questions and show us around. I like to help others, and in turn, I sincerely appreciate the support. This is exactly what Fuqua students represent: brilliant leaders who are truly caring about their peers. I realized that I wanted to be part of this unique community—a feeling I didn’t get on other campuses.

5 Things to Know About Having a Car in Durham

  1. Take the driving exam at the Hillsborough DMV (much nicer staff, fewer queues and easier routes than at Durham DMVs).
  2. Don’t forget to get your North Carolina mandatory car inspection.
  3. Parking is free on campus on weekends and after 5 PM on weekdays.
  4. Looking for a reliable and cheap used car? Graduating second-year students often sell theirs.
  5. If you want to drink at Shooters, leave your car at home and use the free Shooters bus! Carpooling, Uber, and Lyft are also popular options.

My Life Before Fuqua

I was a retail pharmacist and used to work in a family business in Paris. The core mission was to serve patients, but more than simply delivering drugs, I enjoyed the management of our company, leading the team, dealing with suppliers, renegotiating contracts, etc.

My Life After Fuqua

I wish to redirect my career into the Pharma or Biotech industry. A large pharmaceutical corporation would shift me from running a small company to a management role in which I would be getting medicines to market in innovative ways and on a larger, international scale.

What I Love About My C-LEAD Team

I’ve loved my team from the first day! Each member brings such a different perspective and experience—among us are a dual degree MEM/MBA with 10+ years of work experience as a chemical engineer in the industrial sector, a West Coast banker, a supply chain manager at Coca-Cola, and a CPA.

I was very fortunate and happy to see one of my best friends at Fuqua, an Argentine finance manager, joining me on the same team. We previously met on my first day in Durham when he offered to help me move in my new home. We had so much fun together during International Student Bootcamp!
