"The intersection of business, government, and society is growing, and it’s important that MBAs be prepared to engage there. To support students interested in these issues as well as public sector opportunities I recently launched Fuqua’s Business in Government club.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

I’m here for three reasons. The culture, which we call Team Fuqua, was important because more than just joining a top business school I wanted to feel like a part of a community. The global diversity of the student body and course offerings also influenced my decision—while Fuqua is based in North Carolina I have a global experience through my classmates and the curriculum. Finally, I wanted a program that valued my nonprofit and international development experience and gave me the opportunity to engage with social initiatives. Therefore Fuqua’s Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship attracted me.

5 Things to Know About Fuqua Vision

  1. Saturday Night Live meets Fuqua—absolutely hilarious with outrageous parodies
  2. If you've always wanted to be a comedian, actor/actress or direct a movie, this is your opportunity. No talent needed!
  3. Everybody gets involved. Yes, even our Deans.
  4. There's no better way to end six weeks of non-stop courses. You'll be sad if you miss a show.
  5. Don't be surprised if you show up in a skit unexpectedly.

My Life Before Fuqua

I worked in social impact and international development for eight years in six countries, with much of my experience centered on advocacy for women, youth and low wealth communities. Immediately before Fuqua, I worked for LeanIn.Org, a nonprofit committed to helping women achieve their ambitions.

My Life After Fuqua

I look forward to leveraging my MBA skills in a corporate social responsibility role within a global tech company, while simultaneously developing an edtech venture for youth.

What I Love About Pino Lopomo

My Economics professor, Pino Lopomo, was the best. Pino demonstrated a sincere passion for economics without taking himself too seriously, and class was a balance of lecture style and interactive activities. Pino encouraged us to ask questions, challenge his theories, and bring real-world experiences into the classroom. He even invited a leading consulting firm and financial services firm to lead two of our classes. I looked forward to attending his class twice a week because he always facilitated a lively discussion coupled with funny jokes.
