About the Scholarships

The Fuqua Impact Scholars program is supported by Fuqua’s five largest research centers, the Center for Energy, Development and the Global Environment (EDGE), the Fuqua/Coach K Center of Leadership and Ethics (COLE), Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Duke I&E), the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE), and the center for Health Sector Management (HSM). Each Fuqua Impact Scholar will be named to one of the five centers, and during their time as a student, will have the opportunity to work with the faculty and staff of that center. We recognize that an individual’s interests may span more than one of the focus areas offered, and in the spirit of interdisciplinary study, special events and opportunities hosted by each research center will be open to all Fuqua Impact Scholars. Fuqua Impact Scholars represent a diverse group of students who share a desire to impact the Fuqua community.

History

The Fuqua Impact Scholars is the newest scholarship program Fuqua offers. The program was designed to allow students with a passion for a particular industry or focus to be able to engage more deeply with Fuqua’s research centers, and to establish meaningful connections with research center staff and faculty that will persist after graduation. By doing so, the individual student’s experience is enriched, and the Fuqua community as a whole benefits from the activities, synergies, and relationships as well.

Cohort Activities

In addition to a merit-based scholarship award, Fuqua Impact Scholars take part in the following cohort activities during their time in the program:

  • A welcome reception for all Fuqua Impact Scholars at the start of the program
  • A year-end celebration and event for all Fuqua Impact Scholars
  • Monthly activities hosted by the research centers
  • Mentor incoming Fuqua Impact Scholars
  • Priority access to research center staff
  • Represent the Fuqua Impact Scholar program in admissions
