We asked the alumni below celebrating a birthday today, March 19, "Where are you now?" Here's what they said...

Ed Barber MBA ‘04

Ed has remained in the Triangle area since graduation, happily residing in Cary, NC, with his wife Nora and middle schoolers James and Claire. The digital health company he founded, Pattern Health, is fueled by a shared mission to help people live healthier, happier lives. Pattern Health collaborates with providers and researchers (including Duke Health) across the entire life cycle of digital health—from idea to impact, development to distribution. Currently Ed and Pattern Health are focused on helping to address the increasing demand for remote care in the face of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Ryan Bledsoe MBA ‘09

I live in Indianapolis with my wife and 3 boys (8, 5, and 2). I work for a venture-backed medical device company that recently launched a new treatment for low back pain.

Melis Gurol MMS ‘16

I’m currently living in New York City while I am writing this, but when you read this note within 2 weeks I will be in Luxembourg starting a new chapter in life with another Fuquan!

Ross Harris ’78, MBA ‘80

After 40 years in corporate America, I’ve decided to focus the next phase of my career on giving back to my community. In June 2019, I joined the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro (NC) as the Director of Marketing and Communications. I have been a volunteer there for years and am really enjoying this move into the world of philanthropy. This is probably the most direct use of my training in public policy that I’ve ever experienced!

Pat Henry MBA ‘88

After graduating in 1988, as the oldest member of that class, I used what I learned in consulting with the CEOs of small and medium-sized, privately-owned companies, mostly in NC. I retired in 2006 and now reside in Pinehurst, NC, playing lots of golf, but also serve on several non-profit boards and in our church. We escape NC summers by returning to northern Minnesota. Hi to all my classmates.

Maria Jiang MBA ‘14

I am living in San Francisco with my husband, Nick, whom I met at Fuqua! We have recently added an adorable cavapoo (a Cavalier King Charles and Poodle mix) puppy named Birdie into our family. Both Nick and I are immersed into Silicon Valley’s tech startup scene.

Kristin Makhobey MBA ‘14

I’m still working for CDW, but have moved several roles to my current position of Partner Services Manager based out of Tampa, FL. I’m currently evaluating pursuing a career change into alternative medicine since it’s helped me tremendously, and I want to help others too. My husband and I have welcomed our daughter, Elle London, a little over a year ago. We lost our “fur-daughter” Cali shortly after that, and our “fur-son” Tyler is adjusting well to all the change.

Denise Mummert ’74, MBA ‘79

I’m Denise Mummert, and I graduated in 1979 while the school was still called the Duke University Graduate School of Business. In October 2019 I retired from Windham Brannon, LLC, a large Atlanta local accounting and consulting firm, where I had been a Tax Director since 2001. After a busy 40-year career as a corporate tax advisor, I am actually able to enjoy the springtime and am sharing a happy retirement with my husband.

Alejandra Rossi MBA ‘17

I am back in my home country, Uruguay. I am the Executive Director for a nonprofit that supports the creation of social enterprises. I am also working with the government in developing entrepreneurship in rural areas of the country. I am also a Professor at a local University; I dedicate a few times a week to teach social innovation.

Raina Saboo MBA ‘12

I am currently doing Business Development for Google Assistant at Google. I have been in Google for over 5+ years, working across Cloud, Android, and Assistant product areas in various Strategy & Business Development roles. Prior to Google, I spent couple years at BCG, which was my first job out of Fuqua.

Rob Salisbury ’74, MBA ‘81

I am currently living in Dallas, Texas. After working on Wall Street for 26 years—many of those years managing large branch offices in Albany, Seattle, Paramus, to name a few—I became Director of Professional Development for CitiSmithBarney. We were fortunate enough to have great leadership to navigate the many challenging trends during those decades.

I graduated from Duke with a BA Degree in 1974, and completed my MBA from the Fuqua School in 1981. My eldest son matriculated and graduated from Duke, and my youngest son attended Duke as well. I am married to the beautiful Nancy Nolan for the past ten years. We are devoted to our children and enjoy travel with friends and family, often in North America, but also some international travel.

Foremost among my group of friends are those I met at Duke. We get together often. Duke is a great school, and one of the best things I received from it is a cadre of lifelong friends that I see often. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Rodrigo Stock MBA ‘03

I am in Santiago, Chile, and working as Chairman of a Construction Supplies Corporation, Soluex.

Peter Waxman MBA ‘91

I am living in the metropolitan NYC area with my wife and 3 children (two in college!), having built consumer brands over my career. I am currently providing brand marketing consulting (anyone needing some support, let me know!), while at the same time exploring opportunities for my next full-time role. I hope my fellow Fuqua alums stay healthy during these unprecedented times.

Rick Woods ’98, MBA ‘04

I am loving the ever-emerging Durham-Chapel Hill area more than ever, having lived in Chapel Hill for the past 13 years with my wife, daughter (14), and son (12). I am President of Hamilton Point Investment Advisors, where I manage investment portfolios for individuals and non-profits (along with colleague and former classmate, K.C. Nelson MBA ’04). Outside of work, most of my time is spent at kids’ activities, while fitting in Duke basketball and football games whenever I can.
