MQM: Business Analytics
My Program Track:
Finance / Marketing, 2014
Why I Chose Fuqua
Both the academic caliber and the ability to do an analytics degree attracted me to Fuqua. I was looking for a program that would give me a specific set of analytical skills in order to be competitive in the world today. There are some amazing professors that teach and do research here while also making themselves available to students.
Prior to coming to Fuqua, I worked for a year in corporate finance and two years in market research. I realized I had a passion for telling data stories but needed to develop my toolkit to be successful in this space.
I haven’t entirely decided on my post-Fuqua plans, but it will be in either brand management, consumer insights or HR analytics. I am extremely passionate about organizational behavior and how to apply this to brands and companies.
My MQM Track
The marketing track focuses on different types of analytics across the marketing field. Having worked in market research, I have had the privilege of knowing some parts of the field, but there is so much in this field that I am unaware of. I hope to gain the knowledge of how data is valued and used across all marketing channels. Additionally, I hope to gain exposure to uses of data in other areas that I might be interested in.
My Favorite Fuqua Professor
It’s very difficult to pick a favorite professor, as many of the professors I’ve had are of impressive caliber. My favorite so far is Professor Shipper. She teaches with such contagious passion and is always available if you have questions. If you have the opportunity to take her class, you should!
