Weekend Executive MBA Student Jon Nasser

"I view the return on my investment in the Weekend Executive MBA program as enhanced life-long learning and improved knowledge in many aspects of business. I will never be an accountant, but I now know what questions to ask our accounting team. The purposeful focus on personal leadership skill development has already demonstrated return in my interactions with others at my organization."

Reflections

So many classmates have influenced me through their generosity of time, thoughtful comments, and interest in mutual success. One teammate in particular impressed me so much and had the ability to surprise me on multiple occasions. This individual is a retired army officer with a young family. His background and career journey are very different from mine. His sharing about how he led his company in discussions about George Floyd demonstrated his courage and compassion. He confided in me that he was so happy about family weekend because he was so proud to be part of the WEMBA program. I have had so many opportunities in my life and career. This classmate reminded me to be thankful, thoughtful and appreciative.

Before coming to Fuqua, I was an executive at a large, physician-owned practice in the Hudson Valley of NY. I am still in this role. My responsibilities include physician leadership and management and managing the population health activities of our accountable care organization.

I am hopeful to take on a larger leadership role, beyond the clinical leadership that has defined my career. My goal is to apply my Fuqua education to help the success of my organization through a better understanding of general finance and accounting principles and the application of best practices in organizational leadership and strategy.
