Required Essay

The Duke Leadership Program (DLP) is designed to help business professionals reach their leadership potential. This unique program offers a comprehensive approach to leadership and draws on research from many fields, including organizational behavior, sociology, psychology, and political science. DLP will provide insight into your personal leadership style and a framework to develop it in an intense and supportive environment.

Share with us what makes you a dynamic leader by answering the following questions. The essay should be no more than one page in length.

  1. Describe a work situation or challenge in which you demonstrated effective leadership and discuss the outcome.
  2. Describe your vision for your career and how DLP will help you reach your goals.
  3. What would you like to bring back (skills and knowledge) to your company and country?

Recommendations

We require one letter of recommendation from your immediate supervisor.

Please ask your supervisor to submit a short essay, no more than one half page in length, that answers the following questions.

  2. Why do you want the applicant to attend DLP and do you support his/her attendance in the program?
  3. What would he/she gain from the experience?

The recommender should send the letters directly to Pearl Monku. The subject line should have "DLP Fellowship [Last Name]" with your family name inserted for [Last Name]. Please note that an application is not considered complete until we have received the recommendation.
