    • Detailed application instructions are available in the online system.
    • Your application will not be evaluated until you submit it and all supporting materials are received and verified.
    • You may only apply to one admissions round in a given application year.

    Do your research

To decide whether this program is right for you, we encourage you to assess your personal situation and goals, consider the specifics of the program, visit our campus or attend an admissions event if possible, and talk to family, friends, and mentors. You may also start a conversation by emailing an admissions counselor or calling us at +1.919.660.7705.

Review the online application and deadlines for various admission rounds. Consider important aspects of the timeline, including:

    • When to apply if you’re an international student
    • When you’ll receive a decision
    • When your tuition deposit is due
    • When to start the visa process

    Apply

Apply for the MQM: Health Analytics program with our online application, ensuring that your application is complete and that it provides the admissions committee with a comprehensive understanding of your background, skills, talents, and goals.

    Interview

We do not offer open interviews for MQM: Health Analytics candidates. Interviews will be extended by invitation after careful review of your application materials. Most interviews will occur via Skype; North Carolina residents may have the opportunity to interview on campus by invitation.

    Receive a decision

You will be notified via email of your admission decision by midnight (Eastern Time) on the decision date for the round in which you apply. Please note that the decision notification email is not viewable on any mobile devices.

To reserve your place in the class, you must submit the following by the deadline specified in your admission notification:

    • A nonrefundable tuition deposit of 2,000 USD due by the deposit deadline for your admission round
    • Hard copies of your official transcripts and translations (if not in English) from each college or university you attended
    • Official test scores sent directly from the testing agency

Your deposit can be made by check, e-check, or money order only; credit card payments cannot be accepted. Please plan accordingly so you do not miss the deposit deadline.

    Access our incoming student website

After you’re admitted, you’ll receive access to our incoming student website. This site includes a wealth of information about our community and expectations, helping to guide your decision.

Here you’ll find information on next steps in the admissions process, along with all the information you’ll need to transition back into academics:

    • Program announcements
    • Travel/orientation information including visa requirements
    • Technical and computer information
    • Assignments to prepare academically
    • Classmate information

Apply for a visa (international students)

If applicable, visa application information will be sent to you after your deposit has been received.

    Application Requirements

Legible, scanned copies of all transcripts are required for each college or university you have attended, even if a degree was not awarded.

When to submit copies of official transcripts

Official transcript(s) and translations (if not in English) from each college or university you attended must be received in conjunction with your tuition deposit or once your degree is conferred.

    Transcripts must include:

    • Your name and the name of the institution
    • Each course taken and the grade received
    • The degree received and date conferred

If your transcripts do not state the degree and date conferred, upload a copy of your diploma in addition to the transcript. If your transcript is not in English, it must be translated, attested, and uploaded along with the originals. Those applying from outside the U.S. should see additional transcript guidelines for international students.

    Two options for sending transcripts:

    • Electronically to transcripts@fuqua.duke.edu (preferred method of receipt)
    • Directly by mail in a sealed envelope to:
      Duke University
      The Fuqua School of Business
      Office of Admissions
      100 Fuqua Drive, Box 90120
      Durham, NC  27708-0120 USA

If you do not submit your official transcripts on time, or if you misrepresent, falsify, or omit information, we may rescind any offer of admission or financial assistance.

The admissions committee wants to learn more about your personal and professional motivations. To help us get to know you better, you’ll need to provide your thoughts on one essay as part of your application.

    Instructions for required essay:

Question: The format of an online program offers both opportunities and challenges. What do you see as some of the opportunities and challenges of pursuing an online program as they apply to you? Describe some of your core strengths that will enable you to overcome those challenges and take advantage of the opportunities.

    • Your response should be no more than 2,000 characters, the equivalent of about 250-350 words.
    • Responses should use 1.5-line spacing and a font size no smaller than 10-point.
    • Do not repeat the question in the document you upload with your application.
    • Respond carefully, fully, and concisely.
    • Responses must be completed before submitting your application.

All submissions are scanned using plagiarism detection software. Plagiarism is considered a cheating violation within the Honor Code and will not be tolerated in the admission process.

    Optional essay: Tell us more

If you feel there are circumstances of which the admissions committee should be aware (such as unexplained gaps in work, choice of recommenders, or inconsistent or questionable academic performance), please explain them in here. Although we call this section “Optional Essay,” your explanation does not need to be essay-length and may only be a few sentences depending on the topic

Submit your required resume electronically within the online application system. For employment and volunteer positions, include the location, title, date, and responsibilities, starting with your most recent position. The education section should include dates of attendance and degrees received.

    Your resume should include:

    • Full-time Employment
    • Volunteer work
    • Internships
    • Part-time work experience
    • Education

    Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation are required for the MQM: Health Analytics program. Your recommenders must complete the current recommendation forms associated with the online application—no other format of recommendation will be accepted.

Your recommenders must also submit a 1-page letter (uploaded through the online recommendation form) highlighting:

    • Your interpersonal skills (effectiveness in establishing and maintaining relationships; working with peers, supervisors, and subordinates; and willingness to work in a team environment)
    • Your potential areas for improvement or growth

At least one recommendation should reflect your performance in a professional setting. Volunteer activities or other service-oriented roles in which you are deeply involved may also be excellent sources for recommendations.

We only accept official recommendations via the online application system. Submissions by email or mail are not accepted.

    Other recommendation guidelines:

    • You are required to use the recommendation forms that are within the online application
    • Use your recommenders' work email addresses, rather than their personal accounts, like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, and so on.
    • Recommendations from relatives and friends are strongly discouraged.

Bonus recommendation from Fuqua students and alumni:

In addition to the two required recommendations, you may provide additional recommendations from our current students or alumni.

    Alumni Recommendation Form
    Student Recommendation Form

If one of these recommendations is sent on your behalf before you submit your online application, you will be eligible for an application fee waiver.

You must take either the GMAT or GRE prior to submitting your application. Self-reported scores are accepted with the application, and official score reports sent directly from the testing agency will be required after admission and before the program begins. If you are not satisfied with your score, you may retake the exam before submitting your application. If you take the exam multiple times, only report your highest score and any sub-scores from the same testing date.

For mid-career candidates with concerns about taking the GMAT, please contact the admissions office to discuss alternatives.

    GMAT and GRE details:

    • There is no minimum test score requirement.
    • We will accept scores up to 5 years old.
    • GMAT scores take approximately 3 weeks to reach the admissions office.
    • GRE scores take 4-6 weeks to reach the admissions office.

    Fee

A 125 USD nonrefundable application fee, payable by VISA or MasterCard, is due when you submit your online application.

    Application fee waivers

You may be eligible to receive an application fee waiver if you meet at least one of the following criteria:

Before submitting your application, you register for and attend a recruiting event. Attend an admissions event, and in the online application indicate the event type, location, and month of attendance in your online application.

You are a member of the U.S. military—active duty, active reserve, or honorably discharged/completed service (within 3 years). Only voluntary service is valid. Mandatory service may not be used for qualification.

You are an active participant or alumnus/alumna of the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, or Teach for America.

You are a current member of the Forte Foundation or Management Leadership for Tomorrow.

You receive Fuqua Admissions Committee approval. In your application, include the reason for your waiver request and the name of the committee member granting approval, and the date the request was granted.

You obtain a recommendation from a current Fuqua student or alumnus/alumna. Current Fuqua students must complete the online peer recommendation form, while Fuqua alumni must complete the alumni recommendation form. In your application, include your recommender’s name, program (Daytime, Weekend Executive, Global Executive, Master of Management Studies: Foundations of Business, Master of Management Studies: Duke Kunshan University, or Master of Quantitative Management: Business Analytics), year of graduation (if known), and email address.

Instructions to apply for an application fee waiver:

    1. Meet at least one of the above criteria.
    2. Select an application round in the “Personal Information” section of the online application.
    3. Choose the "fee waiver" option within your online application and follow the related instructions.
    4. Allow a minimum of 2 business days for the admissions office to process your application fee waiver.  You will receive a fee waiver confirmation via email when your waiver is activated.
    5. Submit your application after all sections are complete. However, do NOT submit your application if you are asked for credit card information.

Following the above instructions is the only way to receive an application fee waiver. If you submit your online application without selecting the "fee waiver" option, then you will not qualify for the waiver, and no refund will be available.

We do not offer open interviews for MQM: Health Analytics candidates. Interviews will be extended by invitation after careful review of your application materials. Most interviews will occur via Skype; North Carolina residents may have the opportunity to interview on campus by invitation. Both formats are given equal weight in the admissions process.

Interviews are conducted by Fuqua staff, alumni, or select students who will ask you a variety of questions about your educational background and personal interests. At the conclusion, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.

    Skype interview fast facts:

    • Most applicants will interview via Skype, as on-campus interviews are only available to invited North Carolina residents.
    • Interviews will include video when possible.
    • Appropriate attire is business casual.

    On-campus interview fast facts:

    • Interviews are conducted in English and generally last 30–45 minutes.
    • Interviews are only available to North Carolina residents who are invited to interview.

    • Appropriate attire is business casual.
    • Arrive 20 minutes prior for parking and check-in.
    • Bring a one-page resume to the interview.
    • Interviewers will have a copy of your resume, but no other portion of your application file. View responses to frequently asked questions about interviews.

The MQM: Health Analytics program is open to international students. All students will need to be present on the Duke University campus September 10-12, 2018 for the mandatory program orientation and team-building activities. Since there are no academic classes during that period, no F-1 student visa is required. It is the sole responsibility of every international student to arrange for their own entry to the US.
